Beware Door To Door Book Sellers With Foreign Accents - What Are They Planning To Do With Your Children?

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

SteveQuayle.com

I live in rural central Illinois. A car pulls into the driveway with a
Virginia license plate. Out walks this very big man with a very thick
Russian accent and proceeds to tell me he’s in the area selling childrens
books. He said he saw my playground in my yard for my kids. Shows me a book
where he has been to the small towns in that area selling these books and
where the parents have given their names, their kids names and ages. And I
can’t help but be suspicious the whole time because this guy was very
adamant about trying to speak to my wife I can only assume why. After
telling him several times I was not interested and would not give him any
info on my family I practically had to get downright rude to him, after he
kept asking when would be a better time to come back. He did finally
leave.
The thing that got me was there was nothing special at all about these
children learning books. He did not have a business card or any form of ID.
This guy clearly was in great shape and way too big to be a traveling
childrens book salesman from Virginia.
Call me crazy(most of my friends already do) but why would anyone give a
complete stranger that much information without any concern…

About two weeks ago a young lady showed up at my door selling children’s books (to help them learn the Bible). She did not have an accent, but she was very pushy and asking many personal questions about me and my children and/or grandchildren. When I told her I wasn’t interested, she wanted me to tell her about all my neighbors – if they had kids, etc. I didn’t give her any information, but she had a notebook of the same: names of people, their kids and ages in my neighborhood. I don’t like being rude, but I had to be rude to get her to leave. Troutman, NC.

Weird. I will definitely keep my eyes open

My brother had a couple of callers at his door asking him to list the names and ages of ‘any teenage boys living in the house.’
It turned out they were scouting for the armed forces. They were sent away sharpish.

A few weeks ago a young lady with out of state plates showed up in my neighborhood in Houston, TX. She was going door to door supposedly selling school curriculum. She was very pushy, wanting to know the ages and names of all the kids in each house. When she came to our house I said to her that selling curriculum door to door really made no sense. She said some garbage about being an undergrad from some school in another state and it was part of a study about homework. I said this makes even less sense- I don’t believe some undergrad from another state would be selling curriculum or homework help. She had a really crappy car and I got in my car and started following her, demanding she leave because clearly we have a sign in our neighborhood that says, ‘no soliciting.’ You’d think with me following her around and after her she’d have left promptly but she dug in and became even more pushy until she tried to convince a neighbor that I was stalking her and crazy!!! I reported her to the neighborhood guard.
About a week later there was some young guy showed up and was walking around our neighborhood all weekend. I remember it was memorial day weekend and I thought it was strange he was ‘working’ this weekend. He claimed he was with some home security company selling house alarms and he wanted to make sure the neighborhood was secure. I told him to get out, reported him to the neighborhood guard and pointed out the ‘no soliciting’ sign. He said he was official because he has a badge! I said no one in our neighborhood needs him because this is Texas and we have guns for home security. Anyway, he just wouldn’t leave and was there all weekend despite the security guard trying to eliminate him. Some of my stupid neighbors actually let him inside their houses where he placed colored stickers in some of the windows. I thought this was more than creepy. I don’t know if these two creepers relate to eachother or the government. They could have been perverts or thieves. They could have been government officials trying to get information and mark houses….I highly doubt they were whom them said they are….watch out for these people.

They are selling books for a company called Southwestern. They are actually legit. The majority are college kids. My wife did this for a year. They always send people out of state, which is why the person had a Virginia license plate. We are in the midwest and they sent her to the east coast. They ask for neighbors info. to save time, as they will try to skip houses that don’t have kids. I still wouldn’t give them any of my info., but just wanted to give you the info.

I don’t recall the name of the company she gave. I think its a red flag when some stranger is running around very pushy and demanding to know information about people’s kids. Both the creepers disregarded our ‘no soliciting’ sign and became rude and inflamed upon being asked to leave. I really don’t think this is normal. How would you know? Maybe there are some door to door sales people but also there are people pretending to be door to door sales people while actually having another agenda. Once some guy showed up outside my door and appeared to be in a city of Houston outfit and said the city sent him to fix our lights. He was a rapist and the news showed up when I called 911. Once a man in a UPS truck showed up and said he needed to use the phone because his truck broke down. Again, he was a rapist. Sure, there are city of Houston employees and UPS employees. Sure, there are evil intending individuals pretending to be something they are not in order to reach their evil ends. Watch out.

It’s very likely that the person mentioned is an international student participating in the Southwestern Advantage sales and leadership program, as we have many international students located throughout Illinois this summer. If this is the case, he is living with a local host family and spending the summer in your community running his business to offset the cost of his own higher education in Europe. Approximately 2,500 students like him from over 300 campuses worldwide sell our educational products to nearly 200,000 families each year through our summer sales program. Our summer sales program began in 1868.
