Do Racist Statements Make A Person Racist? Did Trayvon Martin "Play A Role In His Own Death?
by Monica Davis
Some of Juror B37 ‘s statements highlight casual, social racism that is endimic in the US. The casuality of racism, the assumption that a certain people have certain qualities. The causuality racism of today, the “living in a bubble” continues.
The “antagonism” doesn’t exist, in terms of being a flaming racist, wearing the costume, putting your kid in a Minnie Me klan costume, isn’t there. This racism is defined as a “misjudgement.”
Pore ole George. He made a misjudgement. He shot that boy because he made a bad decision. It wasn’t murder, or manslaughter: it was a “misjudgement.”

Juror B37 from the George Zimmerman trial appeared on Anderson Cooper’s CNN show to talk about the trial, throwing around phrases like “those people,” “boy of color,” and saying George Zimmerman’s “heart was in the right place” when he shot Trayvon Martin. Understandably, people are saying she was showing racial prejudice, and are shocked at how casual she seemed to be with it. Is she racist? Is she ignorant?
