Free Your Mind

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

Without even realizing it you have probably spent the vast majority of your life trapped in your mind.

When you first wake up in the morning and you begin stirring in your bed, just at the point when your eyes first open and you begin to focus on the objects in the room, your current perception is at that moment completely in balance.  Your mind is clear from thought and noise, just like switching on a computer at the beginning of the day; the screen comes on and the software loads, after a few moments of noise from the computer, it then suddenly stops and the mouse sits in the middle of the screen waiting for your input, ready, as soon as you are to be directed towards a task.

The next choice you make from this “quiet moment” in the morning is the most influential decision you will make all day. A thought, just like a software program, will be consciously chosen by you to load, and then from this first thought a chain reaction of thoughts will follow.

For many people the first thought will normally always be the same daily pattern; get up, wash, get dressed, have breakfast then leave the house…. As this thought leads you outside your home and you pass certain points on your journey you may even be reminded of thoughts you had yesterday on the same journey, which then automatically “load” pre-programmed feelings and emotions.

As this thought process increases throughout the day you may then sub-consciously begin to expect the next feeling and mood to be just as you remembered it from yesterday, even sub-consciously preparing yourself for these same feelings and emotions which you are expecting to occur again (I know there’s always traffic round this corner…sigh).

It is therefore no overstatement to say that a thought is a very powerful thing as it has the potential to make or break your day. A thought of an up-and-coming holiday can make even the hardest tasks enjoyable when you contemplate sitting on a beach enjoying yourself in the coming days. At the same time, a thought of an uncomfortable situation in the future can distract you in a very opposite way, making your day seem harder and slower and even more stressful.

At the point of waking into a silent mind; most people have become accustom to the pattern and will quickly think of thoughts from the past to fill the uncomfortable blank mind with processes on what to tell the body to do next. This cycle of thought if repeated for a lifetime will eventually lead to these thoughts being passed to the sub-conscious mind so that it is no longer required to think about the individual tasks you do, instead you only need to load the mental software program marked “work” or “weekend” and your sub-conscious mind will do the rest.

Thoughts may seem harmless on the surface but unfortunately the act of “overthinking” ultimately diverts your conscious focus away from the present moment, which is always buzzing and full of energy, and instead places your focus in the lifeless past or future within your mind causing you to become trapped there.

Therefore by refocusing your focus, bringing yourself back to the present moment, and re-finding the silence you experience every morning, you are returning the “decision making” back to your conscious mind and away from your sub-conscious mind. The act of doing this will allow you to experience new situations that would normally pass you by without you even realizing because you have been lost in your mind.
