Gen. Honoré To Rouse Green ARMY Rajin' Cajuns Thursday
Retired Lt. General Russel Honoré, leader of the revolutionary Green ARMY, is heading to the home of the Rajin’ Cajuns, Lafayette, to lead Acadians and other Louisiana residents in challenging Big Energy’s threats to their water and air.
Honore, sometimes known as “The Ragin’ Cajun”, although actually of Louisiana Creole background, will be accompanied in Acadiana on Thusday evening by John Barry, founder of Restore Louisiana Now.
The two plan to lead the public in a discusssion on threats to Acadiana and Louisiana drinking water, air and coast in a public meeting to be held at Lafayette’s Clifton Chenier Center on Thursday night.
Honoré, 66, who stabilized flooded New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina in 2005, and Barry, a noted author and former member of the Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority East, have been collaborating with local and regional citizens and environmental activists.
Their aim is to put protecting Louisiana’s fragile coast and coastal communities at the center of Louisiana’s political discourse leading into the 2014 session of the Louisiana Legislature and 2015 statewide elections.
The meeting will include discussions of the state of Louisiana’s coast, the March 8 Louisiana Water Festival to be held at the State Capitol in Baton Rouge, and plans for the upcoming legislative session.
In September, Honore endorsed a lawsuit in a full-page advertisement in The Advocate newspaper.
The lawsuit, filed by the Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority-East, sought to hold 97 oil, gas and pipeline companies responsible for continued loss of wetlands that protect New Orleans from hurricanes.
The oil industry, Gov. Bobby Jindal (known as an oil puppet) and flood control boards opposed the lawsuit, saying it undermined state coastal protection efforts.
Honore argued in the ad that government efforts have failed to hold the companies accountable and that the only recourse left is the courts.
Levees.org and the National Resources Defense Council paid for the ad.
The Clifton Chenier Center is located at 220 West Willow Street, south of the intersection of I-10 and I-49, after I-49 turns into US 167. The meeting begins at 7:00 P.M and ends at 9:00 P.M.
Clifton Chenier is world known for his Cajun Zydeco band. His music, such as Tighten Up Zydeco in the Youtube below, remains a favorite for Cajun dancing.

I would rather see “The General” screaming about that damn sinkhole, that nobody else is talking about!
True. If anyone would, he would. I guess in terms of triage, there are more Gulf victims than sinkhole victims.
