Yesterday, mystery booms have been reported across the US from Texas to North Carolina, California to Indiana and Georgia, so literally all over the country. Freaky, isn’t it?
Lucy banks shared on the DSW Scanner’s Facebook page: “Loud booms in Euless, Texas just now lots of them started off really loud and then got quieter.” On the same thread Kim Walk Prazak reports another boom in Keller, Tx. Any ideas abou their origin?
Jennifer Whitacker reports 2 loud booms again, the first was louder than the second in Indiana. Just remember that the New Madrid fault lies right under this state. Is the next big one around?

I can confirm local news in South Bend Indiana had a story about loud unexplained booms.

Have heard these loud booms in southern Nevada for many months. Some are so loud you expect to read about something blowing up in the paper or on the news but there is never any coverage. Just BOOOOOMS.
Salt mines that are very much like Carlsbad Caverns are “sinking’ in that area at a predictable pace. Very much like a sink hole. Those areas are being made larger and ‘helped along’ to store glass lined (glass deteriorates at a predictable half life) barrels (barrels also deteriorate at a predictable half life) containing waste products.
By the time the half life is reached…..the cavern will have collapsed in upon itself and all products will be crushed under the weight of the cavern, so deep within the earth that it will be effectively buried forever in the bowels of the earth.

Yes, these booms are real, I have heard them but it is unclear if they are military related but I have never heard the military do this before also.

Just off the top of my head I’d say it’s methane gas accumulating in the higher altitudes coming from the broken rocks associated with the faults.

I’m on the West Side of Michigan, I have heard a few very loud bangs that have shook the house in the last two weeks. No clue where they are coming from or why, sounded like underground but no shaking. I woke up in the middle of the night about 4 days ago and heard what sounded like a muted explosion a couple of miles away. Carried and echoed. It is odd but we also have also had the weirdest weather I have ever seen around here in 50 years the last 3 months. It rains like a beeeatch for days on end, the ground saturates with so much water its insane then it warms up for a few days and then a winter front moves in, it freezes hard, snows like crazy and two weeks later it melts again and more water. The wind here has been beyond the pale, bending over trees, 30 mph gusts. My house faces west. This time of year the wind should be coming straight out of the Northwest steady with the arctic air like it should from Canada but its not. It’s always coming from a different direction and it changes direction in increments of 10 to 20 seconds. The air is very unstable. We rarely have days anymore in the normal temp range for this part of the country. The summer was cold, we didn’t have a hot week last summer. I think its the weather and water moving around underground.

It’s called the New Madrid Fault Line. We have lived in this area shown in red for 8 years and we get these “BOOMS” with a fair amount of frequency. Hear the boom, small shake follows, get on a geological web site an hour or two later and there you have it. I will say 2014 they seemed to tic up a bit. Drive about 50 miles east of here and you wont hear a thing or feel anything. Different rock formations. I’ve always wondered about the fracking going on over that line such as the ones just north of Memphis. I’ve had two different opinions given to me. You know which one the state geologist stated.
I believe they are from the DUMBS being built but my brother and I were the culprits around my area. Check out my homemade cannon in my profile pic.
