US Nuclear Target Map
Modern Survival blog has put together several maps including possible nuclear target strike areas. These areas are more prone for the strike if it ever escalated into a nuclear war because of the psychopaths at the helm. He has also included some other maps based on other critical factors as well, showing the potential nuclear dangers that do exist in this Country.
If the power grid ever goes down there could be hot spot danger areas, such as the nuclear power plants and that are scattered across the US. could then be in jeopardy of a nuclear nightmare.

Out of curiosity I searched for maps that would reveal nuclear targets in the United States, and I’ve posted them here for your interest.
Each target map is in the public domain. They vary with regards to nuclear proliferation and opinion of the day during the time they were published.
Some maps are older than others and might not represent some of the changes which have occurred since their publish, but they are still interesting to examine, especially relative to one’s own location…
No one will win a nuclear exchange. History has shown that there have been psychopathic leaders – who had they possessed nuclear weapons, they surely would have used them. Are there still such people today? Of course there are. Lets hope that none of them ever are in control of ‘the button’.
The real effects surrounding the nuclear targets on any given map will depend on the type of nuclear detonation.
A ground burst detonation will not only pulverize everything within a given radius, but will also pulverize many countless tons of soil and dirt into the atmosphere. This will create a very dirty nuclear fallout situation.

There are AT LEAST 8 major military bases not depicted here, many Atlas bunkers not shown, several MAJOR border points that have tactical applications missing, etc.

Nuclear Power Plants are built with fail safes for the exact reason of a power failure. They will safely shutdown on their own in the event of any type of outage set to a specific time, yes even an EMP. Unless a nuke hits the power plant you are pretty safe and if it does hit one your screwed anyway from the blast of of the missile. Our government may be stupid in the way they run things but the the private companies charged with building these plants are not.
As it happens PP your completely wrong there. These things are built and designed to have a whole series of fail safes yes but they are designed to fail IF 1. They loose power 2 They run out of water to cool the pools 3 they run out of staff (financial meltdown for example = no staff) or 4 the generators stop due to lack of liquid fuel to power the emergency electricity supply. Then the SPENT FUEL (store in the cooling pools “above” the main,,, reactors ) would then DROP into the hot reactor core. They ARE built as Time Bombs. Sorry to burst your bubble but hey.
