Another Obama Crony Indicted For Fraud

Start with this guy: Mikal Watts. Watts, a Democratic fundraiser who’s mobilized millions for a bevy of candidates, including both Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, was indicted this week. 

He’s accused of allegedly faking a client roster in order to pursue monetary damages in the class action lawsuit against British Petroleum for the Deepwater Horizon spill in the Gulf of Mexico.

“Watts has visited the Obama White House three times, according to visitor logs,” the Washington Examiner reported Monday.

“Obama, since 2010, has fought to change the law that limits some of BP’s liability — a policy change that would directly profit plaintiffs’ lawyers suing BP.”

So there’s that. Watts has also hosted lavish fundraisers for Obama in San Antonio, Watts’ home base. More recently, he’s also raised money for Clinton’s “Ready for Hillary” super PAC.

“Watts reportedly claimed to represent 44,000 clients who were impacted by the 2010 BP oil spill,” The Washington Free Beacon reported late last week. “He has been accused of falsifying many of these identities in order to gain a lucrative position on the committee of lawyers representing the oil spill victims, which won a $2.3 billion settlement from BP in 2012.”

BP claims that Watts only filed 648 claims, and that the allegedly bogus claimants “were linked to false Social Security numbers, were not qualified to receive compensation, were dead, or said they never hired the attorney,” according to the Beacon.
