Let me first denounce the practice of weekly communion. The annual celebration of Passover is the only time when the taking of bread and wine in Christ’s name is appropriate. God reads our hearts and minds. If Trump prays through Jesus to God and God reads in him a contrite heart, regretful of sin, one that seeks obedience to God over his own ways, someone who is not only willing but intent on changing to a more godly behavior or making it right isn’t that indeed repentance? Need we confess physically that which God deciphers spiritually?
I suppose whether God recognizes Trump’s actions as repentance or not is between God and the President, however nobody can deny he is a man of action not of mere words. As they say actions speak louder than words and I am certain God always favors actions over words.
