Wikileaks: Afghan Tunnels Bombed By US "Were Built By CIA"

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

Earlier this week, President Trump ordered the dropping of a Massive Ordinance Air Blast (MOAB) on an Islamic State hideout in Afghanistan.  The “Mother of All Bombs” allegedly killed at least 100 Islamic State jihadists.  However, Wikileaks points out the cave complex that the bomb was dropped on was built by the CIA.

“Those tunnels the U.S is bombing in Afghanistan? They were built by the CIA,” Wikileaks tweeted.

According to Wikileaks, “The first time bin Laden had seen the Tora Bora caves, he had been a young mujahedeen fighter and a recent university graduate with a degree in civil engineering.  It had been some 20 years before, during Washington’s first Afghan War, the decade-long CIA-financed jihad of the 1980′s against the Soviet occupation.”

“Rising to more than 13,000 feet, 35 miles southwest of the provincial capital of Jalalabad, Tora Bora was a fortress of snow-capped peaks, steep valleys and fortified caves,” Wikileaks added.  ”Its miles of tunnels, bunkers and base camps, dug deeply into the steep rock walls, had been part of a CIA-financed complex built for the mujahedeen.”

“Bin Laden had flown in dozens of bulldozers and other pieces of heavy equipment from his father’s construction empire, the Saudi Binladin Group, one of the most prosperous construction companies in Saudi Arabia and throughout the Persian Gulf,” the tweet concluded.  ”According to one frequently told story, bin Laden would drive one of the bulldozers himself across the precipitous mountain peaks, constructing defensive tunnels and storage depots.”

The tweet then linked to a New York Times article from 2005, which describes a similar cave complex in Tora Bora.  The obvious question that comes to mind to me is, isn’t this where US troops were alleged to be looking for bin Laden during the Bush era?  It was in 2003 that the bomb dropped this week was first tested.  Why was it not used at that time?

The area that was obliterated definitely seems to be in the middle of nowhere.  NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden also put his two cents worth in on the bombing.

“The bomb dropped today in the middle of nowhere, Afghanistan, cost $314,000,000,” he tweeted.

He followed it up with a quote from US President Dwight D. Eisenhower.

CNN has reported that the bomb was dropped about 12 miles away from Tora Bora.  However, they are more than likely connected to each other.  Even if it is not connected, there can be little doubt that US money was used to build these fortresses for Islamic jihadists and now US money is being used to destroy them.  Why didn’t we just keep our nose out of it and save the money and the blood?

Wikileaks has now become the target of the Trump administration that once praised the organization.  CIA director Mike Pompeo blasted Wikileaks on Thursday as a “non-state hostile intelligence service often abetted by state actors like Russia.”  Oh please, the utter hypocrisy of what is taking place in the Trump administration right now versus what was said during the campaign is simply amazing.
