Trashing Trump: A venomous end-of-life political family business

In a classless funeral fad, faith and reverence take a back seat to bile spewing and settling scores

The scenario is not one most people choose to contemplate, but it would seem reasonable that the last hours of our lives could be better spent in loving reflection with those we hold dear than in bitter recriminations.

U.S. Rep. John Dingell, Jr. died Thursday at age 92. Prior to drawing his last breath, we are told the liberal Democrat dictated parting remarks to his wife, which included denigrating President Trump —- though not mentioning him by name:

“In our modern political age, the presidential bully pulpit seems dedicated to sowing division and denigrating, often in the most irrelevant and infantile personal terms, the political opposition.”

In 1932, his father John Dingell Sr. was elected the first representative of Michigan’s newly created 15th District. In 1955, John Sr. died and John Jr. won a special election to succeed him. He was ultimately reelected 29 times, serving nearly 60 years and acknowledged as the longest serving congressman in U.S. history. Between them, he and his father represented the southeastern Michigan area for 80 years.

But the Dingell Democrat dynasty doesn’t end there. When his health declined and he finally retired, he ensured the Dingell name would continue to dangle over the state. His wife Debbie Dingell — 28 years his junior — won the election to succeed him in November 2014, as the first non-widowed woman to immediately follow her husband in Congress.

Debbie, a former Republican strategically turned Democrat, is the one who took the dictated anti-Trump message before her husband closed his eyes for the final time — making sure it reached an audience.

In a similar rendition, before John McCain died, he gave instructions specifying who would be invited to his funerals — he had three.  President Trump and First Lady Melania didn’t make the A-List.  They were specifically uninvited by the still resentful man who never attained the presidency.  Although Ivanka Trump and her husband Jared Kushner came to show their respects in Washington, D.C., they are now being blasted by mega Meghan McCain, who says she’ll never forgive them for attending. She added, she hopes she made them uncomfortable as she gave her eulogy at her father’s funeral stating, “We gather here to mourn the passing of American greatness, the real thing, not cheap rhetoric from men who will never come near the sacrifice he gave so willingly.”

“I really wanted made very clear that the Trumps have beef with me then and in the words of Cardi B, they’re gonna have beef with me forever and I’m not gonna forget,” McCain added, sounding like a street thug.
