Iran Aims For The United States!

Iran is all over the news online and they are completely against the United States, trying to form ties or gathering their allies. In an article from DW, it states how Iran is trying to make deeper ties with North Korea. The very same that was in a war of words with the US over a year ago, and who just had a meeting with the Russian President Vladimir Putin for diplomatic negotiations on their nuclear programs. The article reports:

On Sunday, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif announced he would “soon” travel to North Korea, without providing further details of the visit. But the timing of the announcement could not have been more strategic.

The Trump administration’s attempts to push through the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula with high-stakes summits have lent the North Korean regime a certain legitimacy in international affairs, giving way to bolder approaches from Moscow and Tehran.

Along with this, Iran, Russia, and Turkey are condemning the recent move that the US took on the Golan Heights. The United States recently announced Israel’s sovereignty over the Golan Heights. Syria, being a key region for the involved nations, has Iran and the others very unhappy. TRTWorld states:

In a joint statement, the three guarantor countries of the Astana peace process in Syria reaffirmed their strong commitment “to the sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity of the Syrian Arab Republic and to the purposes and principles of the UN Charter.”

“In this regard, they strongly condemned the decision of the US Administration to recognise Israel’s sovereignty over the occupied Syrian Golan Heights, which constitutes a grave violation of international law, particularly the UN Security Council resolution 497, and threatens peace and security in the Middle East,”

Kuwait has also been concerned over Iran’s recent statement to close down a strategic waterway, the Strait of Hormuz. The closure of this waterway could send a shockwave through to oil companies leaving Middle Eastern Nations the worse affected. While at the same time Iran and Russia are planning to start joint maritime drills in the Persian Gulf! The Jerusalem Post reported:

Based on negotiations with the Russian Navy, the force will dispatch a fleet to the southern regions of Iran this year,” Iranian Army Commander, Navy R.-Adm. Hossein Khanzadi was quoted as saying, without giving a date for the drills

“Defense and security interactions between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Russia are growing under the auspices of the leaders of the two countries,” Hatami was quoted as saying, adding that the two countries “enjoy high capacities and potentials for increasing bilateral interactions” in military and defense.

There seems to be a key alliance here between Russia and Iran, which comes to no surprise considering the US continues to poke the two countries with threats or sanctions. North Korea is joining back into the fray, it does appear that the enemies of both the United States and Israel are banding together, but what happens next?
