If beloved pets could speak what would they tell you? Could your dog warn you of an approaching car accident? Might your cat share tomorrow’s winning lottery numbers? A Cambridge, England scientist thinks he has evidence many animals have ESP powers…

While some humans have ESP, most animals doso believes Dr. Rupert Sheldrake of scholarly Cambridge where science is often approached somberly in quiet laboratories and skepticism hangs heavily in the hallowed halls of knowledge.

Convincing colleagues to investigate something like the clairvoyance of cats or the telepathic powers of pups isn’t easy. Yet Sheldrake is trying.

Animals are psychic claims top biochemist

Who is Dr. Rupert Sheldrake and how credible is he?

Well, Rupert Sheldrake, Ph.D. is a biochemist. He’s also the author of more than 80 scientific papers and 10 books.

Dr. Rupert Sheldrake

A former Research Fellow of the Royal Society, he studied natural sciences at Cambridge University, where he was a Scholar of Clare College, took a double first class honors degree and was awarded the University Botany Prize.

If that’s not enough credentials for you, how about the fact he studied philosophy and the history of science at Harvard University where he was a Frank Knox Fellow. Finally, he returned to Cambridge and was awarded a Ph.D. in biochemistry.

What secrets does he know that you don’t?

So when a man like this says animals are psychic, people are likely to listen.

And listen they do, especially those with pets who’ve experienced first hand animals remarkable prescient ability, awareness of a future event, or seemingly telepathic prowess.

Animals are telepathic and see into the future

Amazing powers documented

Sheldrake meticulously documents some animals’ amazing abilities, among them:

Animals that know when their owners have met with accidents or have died in far away places

Cats and dogs that try to hide when they sense they are being taken to the vetinarian

Telepathic distress signals sent to human owners who suddenly know that a pet they left at home has died

Awareness of earthquakes and other impending natural disasters

Sheldrake specifically discusses the animal reactions preceding (by days) the titanic tsunami that inundated Indonesia in 2004. Animals of every species fled the coastline and desperately raced for higher ground.

Ancient Egyptians knew cats might sense other dimensions

The scientist now has a database boasting more than 5,000 case histories of psychic phenomena in animals.

Based on his research, Sheldrake reports, “In telephone surveys in Britain and the U.S., I found that in about 50 percent of dog-owning households and about 30 percent of those with cats, the animals were said to anticipate the arrival of a member of the family. And it was not just dogs and cats that were involved. More than 20 other species showed similar behavior, especially parrots and horses, but also a ferret, several bottle-fed lambs raised as pets, and pet geese.”

Other documented psychic abilities in animals include being aware of impending avalanches hours or days in advance and even warfare and terrorist attacks.

Psychic pets saved many people in World War Two

Psychic pets saved Brits in WWII

The Cambridge scientist relates an amazing story of family pets that saved human lives during Germany’s air attacks on Britain during the Second World War.

Family cats warned of incoming rocket attacks

“The animal reactions occurred when enemy planes were still hundreds of miles away, long before the animals could have heard them coming, and some dogs in London anticipated the explosion of German V-2 rockets, even though these missiles were supersonic and could not have been heard in advance,” he writes.

Sheldrake urges scientists to put aside their natural reluctance to investigate the extrasensory phenomenon and dig into how and why animals possess these remarkable powers.

Doing so, he says, will help save more lives.

Strange. My cat as he got older is now staring at me..Stares at me all freaking day that is creeps me out. Is like he worships me like a God or something. He never stared at me and slept all day. Is like he is waiting for me to finally communicate with him telepathic or something. I feed him well and he is healthy. Anyone out there care to kindly comment about their cat?

Your cat stares at you because all animals anticipate the death of their owners because the flesh of their owners is most tasty after an untimely demise.

Lived with a lady who claimed to be psychic, one day we were in the kitchen next to the fridge and she said one of her “guides” was coming through.straight away her dog,a labrador cross, that was there with us started barking as if the devil had arrived itself!! All his fur was on end and he was standing with his paws up on the fridge by this time. was a very different moment in my life I can assure you.
It is very much a no brainer to believe animals have abilities we humans don’t. All animals, not just cats and dogs for heavens sake. We need to let go of our superiority complex and maybe we would connect more.

Sort of makes the serpent in the Garden in Eden more plausible, eh?

Total nonsense. I can’t believe anybody thinks it’s true.

Pets can read your emotions. The more they get to know you the better they get at it.

My GSD is very psychic, she knows when I am thinking, I will take her out, she gets up and rushes to the door, makes me feel guilty if I dont do it.

She also runs and hides if I think I will do her eye drops.

I must ask her what she thinks the lottery numbers will be this week.

She stands a better chance than me, after doing it for years, what have I to loose.

Pets definitely can read your mind and no one could ever convince me otherwise. Whether all pets have this ability, I do not know. But I had a dog that loved going to the beach, which was a short walk away. I thought it might be the emotions too, but that was blown out one day when I was washing the dishes and nowhere near my dog. I had a thought run through my head that it might be good to take her to the beach at the moment I thought this, she came charging into the house doing her little ceremony of excitement routine that she always did whenever i would say ‘let’s go to the beach’. And this happened many times – she always knew.

I have been questioning if our dog can read our minds for a few years now. Although our dog loves to be on the first floor as much as possible… don’t know why, but it’s apparent that he can’t wait for the door to that floor to be opened. The bigger shower stall is on the first floor and so when I it’s time to give him a shower, which he absolutely hates, it’s the shower on the first floor that we always use… yet, when I open the door to his favorite floor to lead him to the shower, although I have not voiced my intention, he runs up to the third floor and hides in one of the rooms until he is dragged two floors down. When I’m not thinking about showering him, he eagerly runs downstairs.

On one occasion, while at the Dog Park, a woman was asking around for the owner of the big, long-haired Siberian husky. After the others pointed me out, she approached me and informed me that she possesses the capability of communicating with animals telepathically. At first, I thought she was just a bit, “eccentric,” but then she began to tell me things about us that no one else could know… finished by saying that he is a very happy, pampered dog. I had no other choice, but to believe her.

My cat is a an odd one as well. Not odd, just very aware and OCD as well. He stares at me as well, lol. When he wants something and he will stare until I get it right. If I ignore him he starts with the exact high pitch sounds that he knows drive me insane.
He understands everything we say it seems like and no matter where he is sleeping, no matter how quiet I am in making myself something to eat he is there just as I start to eat and demands to eat first.
We have been together for 15 years so it makes sense that he knows my patterns, he is very meticulous about things and times, daylight saving time only throws him off for a week. If I am in distress he is there but his idea of making me feel better is the invitation to adore him and ignore myself.

I will say one thing he does the we all decided to emulate, the water here from the tap he will not drink. He would rather go out and drink puddles, but bottled water he will drink until he is has bubbling burp. He smells the water fresh out of the tap and sneezes, flares his ears and stomps away. Now he will drink nothing unless he rigorously smells it to make sure it is bottled water. Even filtered through a brita will not make the tap water good enough for him. I agree it tastes weird, and has a great deal of waste left over when you have boiled out all the h2o. He started this last year, before that he was weirdly content to drink tap water from any source, even in the tub.

My dog predicted me hitting the lotto – and I did! I won 2 million dollars!

So the same sweet little idioit who barks for no reason and sniffs strangers butts also knows about my concerns when it comes to geopolitical issues? Right.

    • Ardin

I temporarilly looked after the next-door neighbors cat a few times. Each time, I noticed she liked to sit still and stare at the giant Keanu Reeves poster on my wall intently, almost like it was some sort of cat-TV.
I didn’t think much of it until I recently got a little kitten who, on the first night I had him, decided to also stare at Keanu Reeves’ glorious face non-stop.

Maybe there is something strange with that particular wall? Or maybe Keanu is staring into their very souls….

      *spooky music*

FYI: Do NOT bother buying the book “mysteries of the Multiverse.” It is simply not worth the money, even tho it is less than $8 on Amazon.com. It is very small and badly written. You would be much better off trying to find a copy of “Stranger than Science” by Frank Edwards or any of that genre that you can find in your library or used book store.

    • terry the censor

Everyone should watch or read the roundtable discussion in “A Glorious Accident” where Sheldrake’s idiotic assertions about science are ripped to shreds or shown to be plain lies by Oliver Sacks, Stephen Jay Gould, Freeman Dyson, Steven Toulmin and Daniel Dennett.

Very good book. Wish I had the DVDs.

      We are animals:
If a person live long enough with another person he/she will be able to know how the other person will act and feel.

Pets have the same hability. Is not mind reading.

    • Anonymous

Wow so much ignorance. I guess its too much to expect otherwise when we live in a society that encourages and perpetuates even, scientific narrow mindedness. It all comes down to quantum physics people. Energy.

    • Anonymous

Plants are also telepathic, but if you cannot even accept that animals are truly “psychic” because everyone is, that’s the language of the soul, and we all have souls, then you certainly aren’t going to accept that plants too, are able to pick up on your energies, thoughts and emotions. Emotions ARE energy, btw. Try and dust off your minds once in a while.

    • Norry

@Anonymous. Speaking of ignorance, and a large dose of EGO, your last two comments just about take the cake .
Must be great to be superior ,even if you have trouble trying to string a coherent sentence together. “perpetuates even, scientific narrow mindedness” ?
Now, oh wise one, I have dusted off my mind ,now please tell me of this quantum physics you speak of.

Dogs have an excellent sense of smell and hearing. They can detect a lot about their owners by reading their smells. Also a dog can discern if it is the springs of your approaching car that are squeaking. This might account for some of the phenomenon.

Unfortunately dogs and cats are no more intelligent than a human 2 year old. Dogs and cats mainly love to eat and sleep like some of us mainly do and that is partly why some of us after the dissolution of our bodies will gravitate to that limited form. Whether we further go on to live in a nice home or at a dump in Calcutta depends on the development and actualization of other positive or compassionate efforts and aspirations. But not to worry, nothing is permanent. Although it is rather difficult to generate the positive means to take some of the more blissful forms that are attainable. Or better yet to transcend birth and death itself and understand this dream state for what it is and is not…. Hey! Don’t get mad at me for writing this. This article is suggesting that dogs and cats have super mundane powers. Dogs eat poo for god’s sake!

    • TimOsman

Egyptians held cats in high regard…..hmmmm

      what about dogs ?

YEP! SO VERY TRUE. ANIMALS…PLANTS AS WELL…
