Sollymonsta releases new single 'Got a Dose'

The British musician known as Sollymonsta has released his latest flagship single, titled “Got a Dose.” The track has been released on the Solomon Nation music record label. A guitar-driven, funky track with a solid back beat and relevant, socially conscientious lyrics, “Got a Dose” is one of the most unique songs from the fringe of hip hop and alternative music.

“Got a Dose” does not properly fit into either of these categories, as it retains elements of reggae, rock ‘n’ roll, and other such pigeonholes. Sollymonsta himself has suggested an entirely new sub-class of music to describe his extremely individual style.

“The music I compose,” he writes, “I would class as ‘UK urban,’ as my music will be a mixture of many genres listened to in the diverse city I come from.”

Sollymonsta is from London, where international diversity has promulgated artistic variety beyond that of most corners of the world. It makes sense, therefore, that a colorful sound like Sollymonsta’s should crop up there.

“My musical influences come from a range of artists too long to list,” he says of this, “but mainly hip hop, dance, indie, rock, reggae, soca, pop and gospel.”

Sollymonsta’s lyrics are one of his strongest points. He does not wax poetic about gang violence or drug abuse, but rather talks about issues most people will need to address in their lives. This song, “Got a Dose,” is well suited for sexually active persons of any age, and especially suited for music fans with a fine sense of humor. Sollymonsta describes his track in the following:
