Cumbria and The Lost Words

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

The Lost Words seems to draw people to it, who become ambassadors for the wild places through the pages of the book. Jamie Normington is one such. Yesterday he began a modern day pilgrimage, across the coast of Britain, carrying a copy of the book and speaking at school assemblies and community centres, about The Lost Words and about autism. As he walks he is raising money to put a copy of the book into schools in Curmbria, and also for autism support, and you can find his campaign online at Virgin Money Giving.

To help I had otters for sale ( see below) 25cms x 10 cms. Sumi ink and river water. £300 each. ( The hare is sold now) Email me to secure before donating, with otter or hare as subject title.

Still for sale is a gilded remnant of otter shape. Two sheets of white gold stitched together with silk. Also £300. Each sheet is 8cm sq of gold. ( below)

And at £25 a rare little creature. These aren’t made any more. They aren’t for small children as they have small pieces, and they are difficult as jigsaws go.

I also have otter luggage tags at £50 each. 1-4, left to right. ( No 3 and 4 are now sold)

and, I wondered, in the spirit of pilgrimage….

I have 3 stones with white gold labyrinths. I won’t sell the stones, but I wondered if anyone wished to sponsor their placing? The idea would be that for £100 I would take your stone, to a beach, up the hill, in a wood, and place it, and take photos and write a blog post about the walk which would be dedicated to the person of the sponsor’s choice. And I would send them the gold soul of that stone, the fragment of tissue left after gilding.

The third stone down lies in water on Aberbach, perhaps already taken by the sea. Jamie carries another with him, from coast to coast ( as if the weight of The Lost Words wasn’t enough). Email me if you wish to sponsor, for a minimum of £100.

And if you just wish to add a pound or two, here’s the link. Hoping the weather is kind, that he meets with kindness all along the way.
