These days
Time has moved in a strange way this week. Last Friday I set off for London, spent two days rehearsing, performed on stage at the Royal Albert Hall. You can listen to the performance in two places.
The first is on Listen Again Radio 3.
The second is for headphones and is immersive.
The Prom had mixed reviews, though these had more to do with politics than artistic merit.
I loved being involved with so many utterly wonderful musicians, poets, dancer, actors, and loved how it combined science and art to make something of substance that was thought provoking, as well as a celebration of the natural world.
But now I need to get back to work, painting, and writing, before travelling to promote The House Without Windows.
Ive been working on a cover design for the French edition of The Lost Words. This began with a back and forth of sketches, and then blackberry picking..
There was a desire for the cover to be gilded, and a request for a kingfisher.
Really hoping I have left enough space for the words.
Meanwhile I am drawn more and more to my typewriter for writing The Unwinding. It’s 150% funded and there is still time to be included in the index of supporters.
Hoping to have a cover image soon and an update on the site, but for now I want to just settle into these couple of weeks I have at home, paint, write and try and work out how you start out with an ambition to earn a living and spend your time working as an artist and end up on stage at The Royal Albert Hall, painting foxes and otters, conjured out of a brush with words, with music. Have a listen. See what you think. Let me know.
