Home Improvement

Home Improvement is one of the most successful situational comedies of all time, bagging 6 Primetime Emmy awards during it’s eight-year run.

Since the show ended in 1999, the main characters Tim Allen and Richard Karn have gone on to appear in several other sitcoms and movies. They’re reuniting for a new competition show, entitled ‘Assembly Required’, soon.

Modern Family

Modern Family’s only just come to an end in 2020, after 11 seasons and 250 episodes. The show first went on air in 2009 and focusses on the vagaries of three branches of an extended family, each with its own issues.

It’s a hilarious mockumentary with endearing characters who’re all bound for even greener pastures now that the show’s over. 

Seinfeld

Seinfeld’s* hailed as one of the best TV shows of all time. It ran from July 1989, to May 1998 and centered on a group of three friends navigating mundane aspects of everyday life.  

After the series ended, both Seinfeld and Michael Richards continued with their stand up comedy careers.

All the other characters still appear in movies from time to time. Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ career took off with the series and she’s won 6 Emmy’s for her efforts.

Married With Children

When it ended in 1997, Married With Children was the longest-running live-action sitcom on the Fox Network. Audiences loved the show for its non-traditional take on American suburban life.

The lead actor, Ed O’Neill’s most famous role after ‘Married’ is as Jay Pritchett in Modern Family. His on-screen wife, Katy Sagal, has appeared in several movies and shows since the show ended, including Pitch Perfect and Superior Donuts. 

How I Met Your Mother

HIMYM’s approach to family life is unique among television shows in that it focusses entirely on the past. It’s a tactic that paid off, with 10.5 million viewers tuning in every week.

Most of the actors have continued successful careers after the show, starring in hits like ‘Matrix’, ‘Hunters’, and various Marvel movies. 

Friends

As one of the longest-running comedy shows ever, Friends characters all became household names during its peak. Jennifer Aniston’s career has never paused, before, during, and after the show. She’s featured in at least 40 movies in her lifetime.

Matt Le Blanc’s latest gig was as a co-host on Top Gear, and his co-stars have all played minor roles in several movies and television shows since Friends ended in 2004.
