What is the difference between a natural right and a civil right? Well, a natural right reduces to the soul on the physical level while a civil right is a legal right. Before we had legal civil rights, natural rights were understood to be greater in power than the absolute powers that were once proclaimed by English royalty,.
In other words, our Founders knowingly “declared” a declaration of independence of, by, and for the people, as members submissive to God’s authority. In responding, the king issued a “proclamation” meaning that he believed that he possessed God’s authority (absolute power).
But a natural right such as “mothers love their children” or “fathers fight against tyranny” are greater, according to John Locke, to absolute proclamations made by a king.
