Trump Tsunami

 For those who like to make everything political and project into what is written here, I am going to make this simple from the outset. I have a personal affection for Trump, he makes me laugh and captures my attention unlike any other personality. He will not save America, nobody can do that.

Trump entertains me and most others make me ill. The ship will sink no matter who is in office, this is math. A good laugh is welcome on board the Titanic. Policy positions aside, Cruz and Clinton make me nauseous. download (8) download (5) Culture shapes politics not the other way around.

Our candidates are who we are. Clinton might be more of a chameleon than most, but all politicians move with the culture. Trump is the prosperity, materialism, success of the once great America, the art of the deal. Clinton is the progressive bureaucrat who believes more systems and larger government is always the answer, shallow language and lies for self-serving ends. Bernie is the hippie revolutionary, the idealistic artist supported by anyone who has ever owned a Bob Marley or Che Guevara shirt.

Cruz is the dogmatist who oozes superiority birthed out of the religious right, making Evangelical’s feel he is God’s choice (because without you voting for him God’s hands are tied), a snake oil salesman whose support exposes the lack of discernment in Evangelical circles – #trusted (barf!) Kasich is chicken soup for the soul, Mr. Rogers, a good neighbor who chooses pragmatism over principle when push comes to shove. Comfortable and safe moral goodness but avoid truth if it is too divisive.

Every segment of American ideology is represented by the current crop. Formerly, the “electable” candidates remained more restrained, vying to be moderate. We now have caricatures mirroring the zealotry of the manufactured divide. Cartoons representing the buffoonery that is American politics.

The joke is on us. You want to know America, you need only look into the mirror and that mirror is plugged into an outlet in your living room. Each candidate is a mirror image of the culture and can be found in the church. The cultural church is not the same as the body of Christ. The body of Christ, believe it or not, has within it people who support each candidate.

Many in the church are in the body and many in the body are not in the church. Trump, the man who gives his speech in Jupiter, FL with water, wine and meat props on the night Jupiter was its closest to earth for 400 days. The next time Jupiter is this close to earth is the first day of Passover in 2017, 399 days later. Jupiter, known as the King Planet and the god of the Romans who was closely associated with Zeus of the Greeks, the god whose identity cannot be separated from lightning. On the Ides of March, Trump wins Illinois and his tower is struck lightning in Chicago.

God raises up kings and deposes them. In ancient times a king might rule over a hundred thousand or a few million. The larger empires of Egypt, Greece and Rome possibly hundreds of millions. Today, though Trump may not become king he has garnered more affection and disdain than any ruler to ever walk this earth.

The global population combined with social media has ushered in an atmosphere where obsession over a potential ruler is approaching a fever pitch prior to the one global ruler who will eventually emerge. The number of both supporters and haters far exceeds the number under any king’s reign in world history.

If you believe in a sovereign God who does not allow the falling of a sparrow to escape His notice, you best understand there are many aspects to the Trump phenomenon that demonstrate providence. In keeping with the exploration of the tapestry we will cover names, numbers and time.

A conspicuous aspect of Trump involves the concept of “tsunami”, with its preponderance of references in the media and the implications. You will meet the girls behind the song “Trump Tsunami” which is quite frankly brilliantly absurd and I can’t stop listening to it. Consider it a gift for those who wade through the details, you can thank me later. Before we get to the tsunami, I’d like to address some interesting anomalies which support the aforementioned providence over the Trump phenomenon.

The “last trump” is referenced twice in scripture.

1Co 15:52: In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

1Th 4:16: For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first.

It always stood out to me that Paul used the word “trump” and it is even more bizarre that an individual would have this exceedingly rare name which did not exist until his ancestors changed his name at the end of the 19th century. Among the “glitches in the matrix” we have been covering this is one of the more obvious. Not only does the word “trump” directly apply to the last days but arguably the most well-known person of all time possesses it. A man who appeals to a wide spectrum of people and incites the greatest confluence of adoration and hostility American politics has ever seen. The man who epitomizes all the world has to offer has a palatable association with Christianity and a self-professing distance from the gospel.
