The Cheesecake Factory's Formula for Business Success

I read a great article this morning about How the Cheesecake Factory became successful. It talks about how a family took a product that people liked (a family cheesecake recipe) and turned it into a business (The Cheesecake Factory) with basic common sense a little elbow grease.

Founder David Overton gives some advice to other entrepreneurs and business owners, one of which is “focus on people”. It’s a reminder that we’ve got to deliver what our customers want, or we really don’t have any business at all.

Of course, our initial product or service offering needs to be something the public likes, but when the market changes, we need to change with it.

Having open lines of communication with customers is essential in today’s fast-paced economy. Especially in the restaurant business, we need to be approachable enough to encourage customer feedback, so we hear about what the market wants – when they want it.
