Agrovision South to showcase opportunities for SMEs in supply chain management, food processing

Belgaum, Jan 9 (KNN)  South India’s largest agricultural summit, Agrovision South that will be held here next month will showcase a wide range of farm practices as well as food processing technologies, agricultural machinery, fertilisers and pesticides, products, services and technology in agriculture and its allied sectors.
Organised by KASSIA (Karnataka Small Scale Industries Association), Agrovision South that is scheduled to be held from February 21-23, 2015 will feature an exhibition, several workshops and a conference, according to an official release.

Considered an inaugural edition in Karnataka, the event is expected to see the participation of over 150 exhibitors and a gathering of over 4 lakh farmers.

The conference in particular will focus on opportunities for SMEs in supply chain management and food processing of agricultural produce.  Policy makers will highlight various schemes of the central and state government that will provide insights to business opportunities in the sector.  Participants will get to meet with experts, professionals, farmers and organisations with compatible goals, it said.

As far as the expo is concerned, it will display the best of farm technologies on the cutting edge both from within the country and abroad, latest measures to increase crop productivity, soil testing techniques, harnessing farm produce from lab to land and agricultural extension practices such as food processing and related sectors.

On all three days, there will be free interactive workshops conducted by experts from agricultural universities, R&D institutes and corporates in local language for the benefit of farmers.  Topics covered include vegetable and fruit cultivation and processing; irrigation; dry land farming; floriculture/horticulture; farm mechanisation and machinery protected cultivation; organic farming, goat farming; food safety; dairy development; poultry and pre/post harvesting technologies; agri finance, etc.  (KNN/ES)
