By 2017, India to have largest Facebook users on mobile

New Delhi, Jan 23 (KNN)  Giving an indication of the burgeoning online industry and e-commerce revolution that the country is experiencing, India is set to have the largest number of Facebook users on mobile by 2017, according to a report by the Business Standard.

The media report said that India will surpass the US to lead the global tally of the largest Facebook user base on mobile by 2017, as stated in a report by market research firm e-Marketer.

It went on to say that nearly one billion users across the world will access Facebook through their mobile phones at least once each month in 2015.

“India – the world’s second largest Facebook audience – will surpass 100 million mobile phone Facebook users for the first time this year and by 2017, will have more mobile Facebook users than the US,” the media report quoted eMarketeras saying.

This year, according to the report, Facebook userbase in the US will hit 123.1 million followed by India at 101.5 million.

However, by 2017, India will have the largest mobilephone userbase at 145.9 million followed by the US at 138.8 million. 

Founded by Mark Zuckerberg in February 2004, Facebook is the world’s largest social network, with over 1.15 billion monthly active users.

As far as MSMEs are concerned, more and more of them are currently using the Facebook platform to drive awareness, engage with their target demographic and influence customer decisions. (KNN Bureau)
