Committee meeting of integrated congress of women entrepreneurs

Coimbatore, Feb 23 (KNN) A central executive committee meeting of Integrated Congress of Women Entrepreneurs was held recently in the meeting hall of ICWE, Coimbatore.

The 24^th edition of the convention was presided over by Chairperson of Integrated   Congress   of   Women   Entrepreneurs, Sushma Joiya Pandit and was convened by National President of the organisation, K Geethalakshmi Kalappan.

Emphasizing the problems faced by the women entrepreneurs in India, Kalappan said that ICWE is not getting full support from various district industries centers. They are facing lot of problems even in getting the EM-1 signed for prospective entrepreneurs.

“As regards PMEGP and other programs of the government, it is felt that the Task Force Committees, in the presence of lead bank manager, pass the projects to banks for financial assistance to prospective entrepreneurs. The sanctioned applications are returned by the banks. This is very unfortunate and a hindrance for our industrial revolution in the country,” she added.

She disclosed that the Chairperson of ICWE Joiya met the Governor of Reserve Bank to narrate the situation.

“We on behalf of Integrated Congress of Women Entrepreneurs requested the Governor, RBI to establish at least one branch of SIDBI in the premises of the office of District Trade and Industries center in every District. This will enable all the prospective entrepreneurs to avail the financial assistance after filing EM-1 and getting registration,” she said.

Kalappan requested all the executive committee members to act in such a way that self-help groups in villages be linked with production activities.

Sobita Narzary from Assam, requested the chairperson to expedite the Development Commissioner MSME to think over the proposal of establishing a branch of SIDBI in the building of every district trade and industry center specifically for supporting the “Make in India” dream of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Lakshmi Maheshwar from New Delhi supported the idea with another suggestion of establishing a branch of NABARD in every block of the country to cater the need of micro-entrepreneurs in rural areas.This will help self-help groups to avail the financial help from NABARD.

All the women entrepreneurs registered with district industries center are eligible to join ICWE and in return ICWE will help them to solve their local problems. (KNN/ST)
