Conference on vocational training to strengthen skilling sector
Chennai, (KNN) In order to address important issues related to skill development in the country, industry body ASSOCHAM is organising a national conference on ‘Vocational training and higher education towards skilling India’ on April 29 in Chennai.
“The objective of the programme is to provide a common platform to the representatives from major vocational and higher education sectors to raise issues, exchange information, share experiences and best practices for formulating a coordinated, proactive and business enabled strategy to further strengthen the skilling sector in our country,” it said.
The summit will highlight the topics such as major reform in vocational and higher education, role of NVQF/NSQF and upwards progression, from employability to employment through counselling centres, role of VTPs, sector skill councils and higher educational institute in skilling India and skilling to placement – a case study, success story and way forward for skilling India.
Individuals from various economic sectors like policymaker from state and central government, government organisations involved in skill development, vocational training providers, academicians, organisation committed to skill development, technical and traditional skill training providers and civil society and NGOs focused on skill development will be participating in the national event.
Vocational education are becoming quite popular among youth because it is believed that taking these courses provides better employment opportunities than those provided by conventional academic courses. The introduction of vocational education base at secondary level through bivalent schools and SSC (vocational) will enable to broaden the vocational education base at secondary and higher level education.
