PM urges civil servants for social and economic integration

New Delhi, (KNN) Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged the civil servants to utilise the great opportunity provided by the service to work for social and economic integration and also progress and development of the country.

He was addressing on the occasion of the Ninth Civil Services Day organised by the Department of Administrative Reforms (DARPG) here on Tuesday. He also conferred the Prime Minister’s Awards for Excellence in Public Administration.

Emphasising the need for work-life balance and stress free environment, the prime minister encouraged the civil servants to share their experience with future generations to inspire them to serve the country better. He also urged them to adopt the principles of ‘ART’ by which it is meant ‘accountability, responsibility and transparency’.

Modi also stressed the need for e-Governance by which it means easy, economical and effective governance.

Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions & Prime Minister’s Office Dr. Jitendra Singh; Minister for Human Resource Development Smriti Zubin Irani; Minister for Skill Development, Entrepreneurship & Parliamentary Affairs Rajeev Pratap Rudy; Minister of Railwaysi Suresh Prabhu and other dignitaries that included Vice Chairman, NITI Ayog, Arvind Panagariya  and ICRIER, Ashok Gulati; Principal Secretary to Prime Minister, Nripendra Mishra; Additional Principal Secretary to Prime Minister PK Misra; National Security Adviser Ajit Doval; Special Secretary, DARPG Arun Jha; Secretaries of the Government of India, and Chief Secretaries of States and Union Territories attended the two-day event.

Besides senior civil servants of the union and state governments/ UT administrations, the champions who were conferred Prime Minister’s award for excellence in public administration in the previous years and trainee officers from various National Training Academies also attended the conference. (KNN/ST)
