Dr. Chavez Calva highlights how the impact extends far beyond the coastline. The powerships stabilize national grids, boost industrial output, attract foreign investment, and create positive ripple effects across inland economies — while also raising important questions about long-term grid planning, fuel dependency, and the path to renewables.
As Mozambique prepares a $1 billion LNG-to-power infrastructure hub to serve the entire Southern African Power Pool, the floating power model is scaling fast.
