Last week’s US Federal Reserve Board meeting – an event signaling a likely drop in US interest rates – also contributed to the spike in the price of gold. None of the Western Central Banks have bought gold for years, because it undermined faith in the US dollar, which keeps the floating fiat currency system going. They know if they bought gold, the game would be up. But with China and Russia, that is not the case. With US sanctions and tariffs, they are not inclined to support the US currency, since it is being used against them as a weapon. Gold is a sure fire win in this situation.

Gold maintains value because it’s a finite resource, money is “invented” and so it has inflation tied to it. A pocket of gold could buy a house 100 years ago, nowadays the same pocket of gold can buy a similar house … try doing that with paper money.
