-Good Friday Message: “It’s Friday, But Sunday’s Coming”

Here’s my traditional post for ‘Good Friday.’ Never understood what was so good about this day. After all, the forces of evil celebrated on this day nearly 2,000 years ago at the death of Jesus but it was Sunday that changed everything:
My Favorite message of all time for Good Friday is by Dr. Tony Campolo. Here is a link to the famous tape and where it can be downloaded.
The whole tape is great but the best part is at the end when Tony Campolo recalls one Sunday when he had a little preaching competition with the head pastor at the church where he attends.
Dr. Campolo tells how he preached the perfect sermon in every way and had taken the congregation to ‘the heights of glory’. As he sat down beside his pastor, Dr. Tony patted him on the knee and simply said, “Top that.” The older black pastor looked at him and said, “Boy, watch the master.” Then Dr. Campolo recalls for us the very brilliant message which followed.
The following is a short printed version of the 45 minute sermon–the printed version doesn’t really do justice to the original, but you can at least get an idea what the last part is like:
It’s Friday. But Sunday’s coming—
It was a simple sermon, starting softly, building in volume and intensity until the entire congregation was completely involved, repeating the phrases in unison. The sermon went something like this.
It’s Friday. Jesus is arrested in the garden where He was praying. But Sunday’s coming.
It’s Friday. The disciples are hiding and Peter’s denying that he knows the Lord. But Sunday’s coming.
It’s Friday. Jesus is standing before the high priest of Israel, silent as a lamb before the slaughter. But Sunday’s coming.
It’s Friday. Jesus is beaten, mocked, and spit upon. But Sunday’s coming.
It’s Friday. Those Roman soldiers are flogging our Lord with a leather scourge that has bits of bones and glass and metal, tearing at his flesh. But Sunday’s coming.
It’s Friday. The Son of man stands firm as they press the crown of thorns down into his brow. But Sunday’s coming.
It’s Friday. See Him walking to Calvary, the blood dripping from His body. See the cross crashing down on His back as He stumbles beneath the load. It’s Friday; but Sunday’s a coming.
It’s Friday. See those Roman soldiers driving the nails into the feet and hands of my Lord. Hear my Jesus cry, “Father, forgive them.” It’s Friday; but Sunday’s coming.
It’s Friday. Jesus is hanging on the cross, bloody and dying. But Sunday’s coming.
It’s Friday. The sky grows dark, the earth begins to tremble, and He who knew no sin became sin for us. Holy God who will not abide with sin pours out His wrath on that perfect sacrificial lamb who cries out, “My God, My God. Why hast thou forsaken me?” What a horrible cry. But Sunday’s coming.
It’s Friday. And at the moment of Jesus’ death, the veil of the Temple that separates sinful man from Holy God was torn from the top to the bottom because Sunday’s coming.
It’s Friday. Jesus is hanging on the cross, heaven is weeping and hell is partying. But that’s because it’s Friday, and they don’t know it, but Sunday’s a coming.
And on that horrible day 2000 years ago, Jesus the Christ, the Lord of glory, the only begotten Son of God, the only perfect man died on the cross of Calvary. Satan thought that he had won the victory. Surely he had destroyed the Son of God. Finally he had disproved the prophecy God had uttered in the Garden and the one who was to crush his head had been destroyed. But that was Friday.
Now it’s Sunday. And just about dawn on that first day of the week, there was a great earthquake. But that wasn’t the only thing that was shaking because now it’s Sunday. And the angel of the Lord is coming down out of heaven and rolling the stone away from the door of the tomb. Yes, it’s Sunday, and the angel of the Lord is sitting on that stone and the guards posted at the tomb to keep the body from disappearing were shaking in their boots because it’s Sunday, and the lamb that was silent before the slaughter is now the resurrected lion from the tribe of Judah, for He is not here, the angel says. He is risen indeed.
It’s Sunday, and the crucified and resurrected Christ has defeated death, hell, sin and the grave. It’s Sunday. And now everything has changed. It’s the age of grace, God’s grace poured out on all who would look to that crucified lamb of Calvary. Grace freely given to all who would believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross of Calvary was buried and rose again. All because it’s Sunday.
At the end of the message the pastor shouts out:
It’s Friiidaaaay!
And the whole congregation responds:
But Sunday’s Coming!

And that is why we celebrate good Friday, because it was the beginning of a good covenant for us from God, in the tomb Saturday, where the proof was that Jesus had died and been laid to rest, as well as resurrection Sunday in which Jesus fulfilled the prophecy, he had defeated death and opened communication with God and the adam lineage, Jesus our mediator between praise be to him for his sacrifice and forgiveness from pure Love.

Let me begin by stating the obvious. If someone claims to know you yet consistently believes and expresses abstract and inaccurate depictions of you do they really know you? If you place your hope and pray to a god who only exists in your imagination because of horrible inaccuracies and distortions that thrive on such lies do you honestly expect salvation? Many distortions have entered religious doctrine through the master of deception, Satan the devil and his church, the Catholic church!
After Christ’s crucifixion Christianity was outlawed by the Romans. Centuries later when Constantine a dual worshiper of both sun worship and Christianity consolidated the two bringing into the mix elements of the religion Baal or sun worship. One significant distortion that Satan made sure to forward intended to remove the only proof Jesus would provide the Pharisees with that He was in fact the messiah. He told them that upon His passing he would remain in the earth for three days as did Jonah in the belly of the wale.
Now Yahweh provided a definition of a day in the Bible’s book of Genesis. He describes it as being from evening to evening. If in fact Jesus died on Good Friday afternoon as most so called Christians contend and rose to Heaven on Sunday morning that is not three days according to God Almighty, thereby denying the only proof Christ gave he was God’s Son our Passover, savior and high priest under the order of Melchisedeck.
Folks the significance of this one element of sun worship has had a tremendous impact on peoples ability to know and commit to the only true God Yahweh Elohim, the merciful and loving Father who gave up for endless sacrifice His only begotten Son so that we might have access to His Spirit. Jesus our advocate is what makes this possible.
Sadly there remains a number of other elements of sun worship doctrine that separate people from God. It is no different now than it with the sons of Israel. Their belief in false gods caused them to wander in the wilderness for forty years. Another good example is Dec 25th which is not Christ’s birthday at all. It is however the winter high day celebrated in sun worship. Remarkably most Christian religions falsely attribute this day celebrating it as Christ’s birthday against Christ’ specific instruction not to.
Then of course there is Sunday worship that literally defies the fourth commandment which requires a seventh day sabbath. This appointed time according to God is to be practiced and held sacred from generation to generation to time indefinite. It is one of the ten commandments and no they were not abolished by the coming of Christ. Jesus stated in no uncertain terms that He did not come to take away God’s Law but to instead came to fulfill it. Most revealing is how the remaining commandments are observed by those same religions that claim an end to God’s sabbath and seven annual Holy days. FYI: What actually ended was merely the now obsolete Levitical system of sacrifice. Jesus became our continual sacrifice or Passover. Through Him our High priest, advocate and savior we have gained access to God who otherwise could not dwell in sin.
The false doctrines I mentioned are of Satan and are cunningly designed to mislead the mass, to separate people from the true God. Please don’t fall for his deception or into the devil’s trap. We humans are a prideful and arrogant bunch. As the old saying goes “it is far easier to dupe someone than it is to later convince them they’ve been duped. As we continue in the final phase God’s six thousand year plan to provide mankind with hard evidence that we just cannot live in fulfillment and happiness without Him it is necessary to leave those polluted beliefs behind.
In closing I will say that Jesus spoke in parables and told followers not to throw their pearls before swines for good reason. The mysteries of God were never intended for them at the time even dedicated followers did have access to God’s Spirit. It was not until Christ became our Passover that God’s Spirit could live and dwell within those He has called and given to Christ.
The fallacy of man going to heaven or hell after death was masterfully created to stumble you. Remember, “No man has ascended to the Heavens that has not descended from the Heavens, the Son of Man Jesus Christ. As proof recite the Lords prayer Jesus gave to us. The second verse is telling! Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven. The book of Revelation tells us about the the New Jerusalem coming down from Heaven and describes it in detail.
The vail has been lifted, don’t fall prey to Satan’s deceptions. There exists one true God, one Son our advocate and one Church that the bottom line. That Church is the Church of God PKG or preparing for the Kingdom of God. As the world continues in this cycle of destruction it would be best to reexamine what you have been taught and what you believe. You most certainly want to be worshiping the right god and not one Satan created to mislead you!
I pray for each of you. Try to remember that God has not been trying to save the world. If that were the case He would be weak as Satan is surely winning in numbers. He gave us a trial period of six thousand years and it’s over! The next thousand years begins His plan for the establishment of His Kingdom here on earth. I pray that you will respond to God’s calling when it comes your way. I suspect it wont be long.
