Is it OK for God to slaughter women and children anytime He pleases?
A few years ago, theologian John Piper had this to say in response to the question, “Why was it right for God to slaughter women and children in the Old Testament? How can that ever be right?“
“It’s right for God to slaughter women and children anytime he pleases. God gives life and he takes life. Everybody who dies, dies because God wills that they die.
God is taking life every day. He will take 50,000 lives today. Life is in God’s hand. God decides when your last heartbeat will be, and whether it ends through cancer or a bullet wound. God governs.
So God is God! He rules and governs everything. And everything he does is just and right and good. God owes us nothing.
If I were to drop dead right now, or a suicide bomber downstairs were to blow this building up and I were blown into smithereens, God would have done me no wrong. He does no wrong to anybody when he takes their life, whether at 2 weeks or at age 92.
God is not beholden to us at all. He doesn’t owe us anything.”

Framing an answer to the above question in terms like Piper does a) raises questions pertaining to God’s goodness; b) seems to indicate some sort of theistic Voluntarism as found in Medieval philosophy; c) implicates God as the author of evil since God does not just passively allow the premature death of little children but He actively wills their premature death; d) ignores a very different revelation of God in human flesh we definitively observe in the gospels.
For my part, this is the kind of Calvinistic expression that made Wesley’s blood run cold.

Sounds like that particular god who encourages, under the cover of war_murder, slavery,
theft, lying, rape, forced marriage, and otherwise stoning your kids and whores,
taking war to the ends of the earth if need be…….that particular ‘god’ doesn’t sound

….what about the ‘elect’. Their role was designed before the foundations of this age. (before they were born.)

Well, if you believe the bible, then yes. It is inherent to the belief that you are property to be used, abused and or disposed of at the whim of the biblical deity. If IT’s all knowing as claimed then the know for a fact future would reduce us to little more than preprogrammed Sims being playing with by a spiteful child. Freewill could not exist, only predestination to follow the known future.
The fact it can be accurately diagnosed from IT’s actions as suffering from psychosis, narcissistic schizophrenic personality disorder, seems to do a complete fly by on believers. IT keeps changing IT’s mind. First we were not supposed to know good from bad, punished and banished us for it, even though IT all knowingly set us up for it. Then changed it’s mind, drowned the entire world because we didn’t know good from bad. IT is definitely psychotic.
