It's Never Too Early

Christmas should be year round, but then if it was, it wouldn’t be Christmas.  This is the beginning of a special time of year.  This is a time to reflect on our lives and the last year, but then not too much.  It is a time of looking ahead thinking already about the New Year.  My wife and I are planning to get out of the doldrums of winter by taking a vacation in early February to some place warm.  It doesn’t get bitterly cold where we live, but looking forward and planning a trip to get out of winter, if just for a week, seems to make the winter months go faster. 

I use Christmas music throughout the year to pick myself up when I am down.  I know that Jesus wasn’t born in the winter, but actually in the Spring, as most biblical scholars would suggest.  But knowing this doesn’t detract from the season at all.  No one is going to change the date of Christmas, regardless, mostly because to merchants it’s not economical to do so.  A lot hinges on shopping at the end of the year.  And then removal of all the scenery about Christmas really would detract from the mood of the season in addition to having two major religious holidays running into each other all the time.  One day we celebrate the birth of our Savior to the next day celebrating His death and resurrection.  We know that his death and resurrection occurred during Passover, which is always in the Spring.  

Okay, so much for that!  It might be early for some to be thinking about Christmas, but for me, I can say that it’s Christmas just about every single day.  We have no grandiose plans for Christmas this year except to be with our family.  In fact, there isn’t anything I really need nor want for Christmas.  We will decorate like we always do, but otherwise, it will be a very simple Christmas for all of us here.  Setting the mood is never too early.  Enjoy the link below and I will write later.  Peace.  I am Brother Ralphie writing for my Angels from The Angels of Life Institute.
