Margarita Recipe
Margarita is a cocktail served in several ways and prepared in various styles. Margarita is a Spanish word for daisy and is a popular Mexican and American beverage.
It is said that during the prohibition period in the United States from 1920 to 1933, daisy ‘margarita’ was re-created with tequila instead of brandy. Margarita consists of tequila, orange liqueur, and lime juice.
It is served in a special glass, which is a stepped-diameter slightly different to a champagne coupe. But there is no fixed rule to it and can be served in other glass types too like a wine glass, pint glass, or schooners.
Our taste buds recognize 5 different tastes – sweet, sour, bitter, salty, and umami. Margarita gives us all four tastes out of 5, the bitterness of the tequila, the sourness of the lime, the sweetness of the agave, and the saltiness of the salt at the rim of the glass.
Taking a nip of margarita heightens the sweetness and sourness by cutting the bitterness of the lime and tequila. It flawlessly pairs with any food. It has become the go-to drink for Americans and they jointly drink 185,000 margaritas every hour.
Apart from traditional classic margarita, there are other kinds of margaritas like fruit margarita, top-shelf margarita, frozen margarita, and virgin margarita.
Making margarita is an easy recipe, but still, many people get confused about simple recipes. Let’s look at this traditional recipe to make an incredibly fresh margarita.

- Agave nectar
- Ice cubes
- Salt & lime wedge

- Take the glass and roll the half rim of the glass in salt. The other half is left without salt to be a choice if someone doesn’t want salt full mouth in the first sip.
- Put some ice cubes in the cocktail glass and pour the mixture from the shaker.
- Place lime wedge on the rim of the non-salted area of the glass.
