California Police Unions Claim That Making Misconduct Records Public Violates Their Rights

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

California police unions are protecting police and helping to cover-up misconduct by fighting a recent law that requires making police disciplinary records available to the public.

(From Reason.com)
These are all things the public deserves to know about state employees who have the power to kill them, take their belongings, and deprive them of their freedom. Nevertheless, police unions are fighting to stop law enforcement agencies from releasing this information, claiming that revealing records about their conduct somehow violates their rights.

      Maybe it does.
If those records include individual police officers work records, perhaps it should be private.
Lets not forget that every time some cop busts a crybaby who has a special interest group advocating for his criminal ass and files a complaint, that goes into the cops record.

Not to mention that cops private info is private for their protection and their families protections.
My father in law was a prison guard, he had special safe guards in place to keep inmates from knowing where he lived.
And then of course there are undercover cops whose ability to function depends on their anonymity.
