Now that I’ve got rid of our top generals . . .

OK, I’ve got rid of our top generals, and other experienced soldiers, and women, and gays, and blacks and people with beards and mustaches because those kinds of people can’t fight wars. And I have weakened our defenses, so we are critically low on Patriot missile interceptors and other weaponry. And our best, most educated soldiers are quitting like never before, because military academies like West Point and Annapolis don’t really teach you anything that could help in a war. And I have convinced the President that uneducated, white, clean-shaven men with big muscles can beat smart sissies, and high-tech equipment, and war education, any time. So, it’s fair to say that I, with almost no military education or experience, have accomplished what Iran, Russia, China, North Korea, and all our other enemies never could. I have decimated the greatest fighting force in world history. Although I promised to stop drinking, I think this calls for a few beers Thank you, President Trump, for giving an unqualified Fox News commentator the opportunity to play soldier on the world stage. By the way, are we winning yet?

——————–///——————–

Army Secretary Dan Driscoll submitted his resignation to President Donald Trump on Monday, with several reports saying he detailed concerns to the president about Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth gutting the service’s upper ranks to undermine Driscoll’s Army modernization plans.

Sen. Thom Tillis of North Carolina, said he had “never witnessed more inept management of the brave men and women who serve our country.” He also said Hegseth was “intimidated by competence.”

Rep. Don Bacon of Nebraska agreed with Tillis, said that Hegseth had “not been a very good leader in many ways.”

House Armed Services Chairman Mike Rogers said he was “tired of all the churn” at the Defense Department and added, “I want to see some stability over there.”

House Defense Appropriations Chairman Ken Calvert bemoaned “a number of disruptions in the department” and suggested they need to stop.

Sen. Jack Reed said “In the Army alone, he has fired and blocked the promotions of dozens of senior officers without explanation, including Army Chief of Staff General Randy George and half of all four-star generals.”

Driscoll’s resignation leaves the military’s largest branch with neither a Senate-confirmed civilian leader nor a Senate-confirmed uniformed leader amid a protracted war with Iran and as the Pentagon works to convince Congress to approve a $1.5 trillion defense budget. Hegseth fired the Army’s chief of staff, Gen. Randy George, in April.

But this is no surprise. Trump also has hired such luminaries as Pam Bondi, Kristi Noem, Corey Lewandowski, Kash Patel, Gregory Bovino, Dan Bongino, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., and Lori Chavez-DeRemer. And, of course, who could forget Elon (chainsaw) Musk?

And it’s not even two years into this administration.
