Jackie Chan advertises smartphones for Bitcoin
China Telecom is the largest state-owned telecommunication company of China. It is the third largest provider of mobile communications and the Internet. Jiangsu Telecom, a local division of China Telecom in Jiangsu province, announced the start of a campaign for the sale of smartphones for Bitcoin. This information appeared on the company website. For those who can’t recognize: this is Jacky Chan who advertises a new smartphone on the main page. The site says that customers have the chance to use bitcoin instead of yuan to pre-order new Samsung’s phone running Android.
Payments are processed through service BitBill, Chinese analogue a BitPay.
China occupies a leading positions on the market of Bitcoin is not the first month. More recently BTC value on Chinese exchangers broke all records, and in Hong Kong was built factory for Bitcoin mining. Any business newly accepting bitcoin is guaranteed to gain media attention and thus gain advertisement. It also provides an incentive for Chinese companies considered Bitcoin as an alternative method of payment.
