Andy Schectman says somebody has been standing for delivery of roughly $100 billion of gold and silver this year – and nobody is asking who. Speaking with The Deep Dive, Miles Franklin president Andy Schectman lays out the case that the price on your screen is the least interesting thing about this market. He walks through the COMEX deliveries almost nobody talks about – over 600 tons of gold and more than 9,000 tons of silver standing for delivery this year, close to $100 billion in total, in a market where he says less than one percent of contracts ever took delivery in his thirty-six years in the business. He points to the 39 million ounces that physically left the COMEX on trucks in a single non-delivery month, to central banks buying the one thing they cannot print, and to the European central banks that have quietly asked for their gold back. From there he builds the part that gives the interview its title: the arithmetic of a gold revaluation. America’s gold is still carried on the books at $42.22 an ounce, so every $4,000 move in the price hands the Treasury roughly a trillion dollars – no vote in Congress required. Schectman argues the administration may not do it by decree at all. He lays out an alternative scenario built around Tether, the Genius Act, stablecoins backed by short-term Treasuries, and the people recently brought into the Treasury and the Fed – Stephen Miran, David Zervos and gold advocate Judy Shelton. He is explicit, three separate times, that he has no proof of this. He closes on the debt trap itself: $2.3 trillion added in one fiscal year, $1.1 trillion a year in interest, and why a bond market crisis turns into a stock market crisis faster than most investors expect.
