Idaho Lottery Funding is Going to the 'Permenant Building Fund" and Building Prisons instead of Schools!
The last time I was out there all of the wooden doors in Unit 10 and Unit 11 were replaced, for no apparent reason , other than they could do it. The wooden doors were replaced with steel doors, which had to be custom made for each cell, due to the design and nature of the old Units. I’m sure the Administration would scream ‘Security’. but the wooden doors were fine for over 30 years, no escapes, no fires.. so the Security argument does not wash.
There were also brand new roofs put on every building out at ISCI, and I can’t tell you how many times there were roofers putting new roofs on one Unit or another.I believe money is spent, simply because they can spend it.
There are many problems with the Idaho Prison System, ranging from the ‘double jeopardy’ inmates are exposed to when they receive one sentence from the Judge, then another from the Almighty Parole Commission,which is headed up by Olivia craven
Idaho’s Schools are consistently rated among the lowest in the Nation, and this is before Luna and the idiotic Idaho Legislature instituted the ‘reforms’ the people were against.(All the contracts go to one of Butch and Tom Luna’s cronies with K-12 Education), but even though this company donated substantial funding to both Luna and Butch, they both insist there was no wrongdoing.
The Idaho Lottery funding should be for Education, not for a new building for Probation and Parole..which was just built in Caldwell.
I am in the process of finding out exactly how much of the Lottery Money is being funneled into the Prison System. In Idaho , it would seem they would rather incarcerate your children than educate them.
