Compliance4All announces webinar on the topic, “Terminal Radar Approach Control (TRACON) Operations” on October 7. This webinar presents the key Air Traffic Control (ATC) concepts and procedures.

Fremont, CA: Compliance4All, a provider of cost-effective regulatory compliance trainings for a wide range of regulated industries, will organize a webinar on October 7. The topic of this webinar is “Terminal Radar Approach Control (TRACON) Operations”, and the speaker is Stephen Alvania, Certified Air Traffic Controller and Owner of Air Traffic Systems Consulting, LLC.

About the webinar:

This webinar presents the key Air Traffic Control (ATC) concepts and procedures relating to those operations occurring between the control jurisdiction of the airport traffic control tower and the en-route ATC airspace, referred to as the Terminal Radar Control facility (TRACON).

For more information or to register for the webinar, please click here.

The speaker will delve into the various control positions within a TRACON, the airspace allocation to each position, and the role of the air traffic controllers as the streams of departure aircraft and arrival aircraft cross both paths and altitudes. He will also focus on how air traffic controllers organize sequence, merge, and ensure separation for the multiple aircraft approaching an airport to land from multiple directions.

This webinar will also discuss the various types of approaches that are commonly used in ATC. The topic also shows how the basic concepts and procedures have been adapted to accommodate regions where there are multiple major airports in close proximity. Its aim is to try to capture: (1) what a TRACON controller is trying to accomplish, (2) how he/she is doing it, and (3) what the controller is thinking while he/she is doing it. Among these, the internalized notion of what it “feels like” to be a controller is crucial to the understanding of ATC and to the development of new and advanced ATC capabilities.

About the Speaker:

Stephen Alvania is the Owner of Air Traffic Systems Consulting, LLC.

He has 30 years of experience with the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration. He is Certified Air Traffic Controller at an airport traffic control tower, a radar approach control, and an en-route ATC center. He led the development and deployment of the national traffic flow management system.
