Botched Bodies: Victims of Plastic Surgery Gone Wrong Tell Their Stories

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

Last year, about five percent of plastic surgery jobs in the UK have been in need of further corrective work. In a new TV show in the UK, the victims of botched surgeries will tell their stories.

The ever-increasing demand for plastic surgery has also lead to the increasing incidence of botched jobs. Most people who want to go under the knife opt to risk their lives on inexperienced practitioners with sloppy techniques and shady backgrounds. Low-priced surgery can really tempt patients especially since cosmetic surgery is not always covered by insurance.

In the UK, a documentary team tried to gather patients who have experienced botched surgeries and desperate to have reconstructive procedures. In a new TV show called Botched Bodies, they will tell their stories on how they have to deal with the disastrous cosmetic surgeries they have undergone. The show will feature not only women but also men who have recently recognized that plastic surgery is not only for the females.

Surgeon Nick Percival, who treated one of the patients involved, said “People always assume they will be in the 95 per cent who don’t have problems but the only people who are 100 per cent safe are those who don’t have surgery.”

In the US, plastic surgeons are also alarmed at how many people seek their help each year to correct a plastic surgery gone wrong. In order to have an educated choice when it comes to plastic surgery, the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery reminds patients that they have to know the guidelines in choosing the best plastic surgeon for their desired procedure.

“Recent reports of cosmetic surgeries gone awry and wrongful deaths proves that the choice for undergoing facial cosmetic surgery should be taken seriously,” says AAFPRS President Dr. Shan Baker.

“Whether undergoing a surgical operation, such as a face lift, or a non-surgical procedure like Botox injections, patients need to be mindful that these are all medical procedures that should be performed by the hands of a well-trained, qualified, and experienced facial plastic surgeon”, Dr Baker adds.

According to Dr Bradley Hubbard of http://bradleyhubbardmd.com, “There are a lot of patients who don’t understand the risks of cheap cosmetic surgery because they are blinded by the prospect of cheap fees.”

It is important that you do your own research at home. There are a lot of resources that you can use in order to refine your search for the perfect surgeon. Online websites and forums provide useful information on procedures and experiences from other people. It always pays to do your homework.

It is extremely important to not only research you surgeon, but also the facility where you will have cosmetic surgery. I am always amazed when people do not do this, but instead try to save money on surgery. Always do your research!
