The reality is there are 2 types, deliberate spraying and pollution from class 4 US military fuels which use blended petroleum and accelerants such as Boron and Silver nitrite. Europe uses Kerosene for RR Trent and most turboprop aircraft, but class 4 must be used for US engine types meaning we get intermittent cloud seeding when US aircraft transit and land through our airspace. I have only seen one incident of spraying at 5.30am with a line of 6 aircraft at above 45,000 feet flying North to South down England mid summer in 2016 which effectively created a massive smog incident which Europe used to fine the UK, we never get smog in NW England.
