Maasai values in Northern Ireland!

Let me introduce you all to the new Mayor of Londonderry/Derry! Her name is Councillor Lilian Seenoi Barr.

She is an SDLP Councillor and with Sinn Fein backing, she is now set to represent the Maiden City as Mayor. Here’s a little background. She fled Kenya to seek “sanctuary” in the UK. She has family still living in Kenya. There is no war going on in Kenya so I am unsure why she felt the need to come to the UK.

She is also very keen on Kenyan affairs as can be gleaned from this tweet in 2021.

Since arriving here, she has been working with the council since 2021, and “has campaigned on gender rights issues for Maasai women, forced marriage and female genital mutilation” I am unsure if there is a big Maasai population in this area, I would have assumed none.

Lilian thinks that Irish people who object to Open Borders and Mass immigration should be labelled “terrorists”. She also calls them “far right”. She is also very focused labelling things she doesn’t like as “racist”

Quite how she will improve the fortunes of the City she now represents is hard to see but Irish Nationalism seems to have found a new champion.
