College Basketball Comes to FanDuel
College Basketball has officially come to our favorite Daily Fantasy Sports Site, FanDuel. That is not a typo, I said College Basketball. For cash prizes. I never thought I’d see the day when Fantasy Sports and NCAA went hand in hand, legally.
As of now, contests will only be for major conference games. Contests will start on November 15th but will open up in the next week, so keep checking back. Your daily roster will be comprised of Four Guards and Five Forwards. If you are familiar with FanDuel NBA contests, the scoring is identical.
As a fun exercise, I thought of three players randomly then figured out their Per-Game FanDuel output for the 2010-11 season. The first three players that came to mind were Derrick Williams, Marshon Brooks and Darius Morris.
Marshon Brooks was just a scorer, right? Wrong. He posted the best FanDuel stats with 36.5 FanDuel Points per Game during the 2010-11 college basketball season. Derrick Williams was an all-around monster but didn’t really dish the ball as much as I thought. Overall, Williams posted 29.6 FanDuel Points per Game. I thought Darius Morris might have been a sneaky FanDuel player last year. However, the lack of blocks kind of brought his numbers down. He only averaged 24.9 FanDuel Points per Game for Michigan. Who will be the #1 College FanDuel Player in 2011-12?
I can’t wait to start the number crunching. With the NBA still in lockout mode, it’s good to know Fantasy NHL and College Basketball are still there to fill the Fantasy NBA void in my life.
