Daily Haze: Maurice Jones-Drew Demands Trade, Fantasy Owners Panic

Maurice Jones-Drew’s holdout from Jaguars camp and preseason reached a whole new level yesterday.

The do-it-all running back, who accounted for nearly 50 percent of Jacksonville’s total offense last year, asked for a trade yesterday after the team’s owner made public statement about Jones-Drew getting left behind. Not a good sign, and fantasy owners are reacting accordingly.

Jones-Drew’s average draft position had dropped steadily from a high first-round pick earlier this summer to a high second-round pick as of last week. Now his ADP appears to be in sharp decline following yesterday’s trade request. Give it a few days to see where he bottoms out, but my guess would be anywhere from mid-third to early-fourth.

Meanwhile, I mentioned earlier this summer the name to know in the Jacksonville backfield should Jones-Drew’s holdout reach into the regular season: Rashad Jennings. He’s had an excellent camp and preseason. I expect his ADP to sky-rocket as MJD’s plummets in the next few days.
