Daily Haze: Five Bold Fantasy Football Predictions

With the season starting tonight, it’s my last chance to make some bold fantasy football predictions for 2012.

Did it last year with fantastic results. Nailed three-of-five and came so close to the fourth. So close, in fact, that I’ll call it a 3.5-out-of-5.

This year’s five bold fantasy football predictions are below. Agree or disagree in the comments!

1. Matt Ryan will jump into the elite quarterback category this season. Everything is in place for this to happen. Michael Turner is too old to carry this team on his back. New, up-tempo passing game. Emerging Julio Jones, dependable Roddy White and timeless Tony Gonzalez as weapons.

2. Darren McFadden will give fantasy owners a full 16 games. Much was made last summer about Matthew Stafford and his injury issues keeping him from becoming elite. Stafford stayed healthy and became elite in 2011. McFadden the next in line to make that jump.

3. Ryan Mathews will finish outside the top-12 among fantasy football running backs. An inauspicious start to Mathews’ supposed break-through season happened when he broke his collar bone in the team’s first preseason game. Good luck to his owners.

4. Neither Andrew Luck nor Robert Griffin III will finish in the top-10 among quarterbacks. All the rookie quarterbacks getting the love from fantasy owners and experts alike this summer. Blame Cam Newton and Andy Dalton. I’m betting against these rookies in 2012.

5. Aaron Hernandez will score more fantasy points than teammate Rob Gronkowski. Saving my biggest and boldest prediction for last. I’ve heard whispers of this from other people, but it’s still pretty bold in my book.
