Daily Haze: Week 5 Waiver Wire Adds
The NFL season reached the quarter pole this week, which means fantasy football regular seasons are one-third complete. Four weeks is enough of a sample size to know what you have on your roster now, and where you need to make improvements.
So it’s a good idea to hit the ground this week and start making trade offers. Also, you still can find talent off the waiver wire. Be especially vigilant from here on out.
The first large onslaught of bye weeks hits fantasy owners in Week 5. Pittsburgh and Indianapolis are done with byes for the year now, so you’ll have access to those players from here on out.
Week 5 byes: Dallas, Detroit, Oakland, Tampa Bay
Quarterbacks
Ryan Fitzpatrick, Bills (350-4-4)
Doesn’t matter if the Bills win or lose in our fake football world. Fitzpatrick fills up the stat sheet.
Tim Tebow, Jets
It’s only a matter of time …
Running Backs
Brandon Bolden, Patriots (16-137-1; 1-11)
Only if you own Stevan Ridley. Going to be wildly inconsistent in this backfield.
Jackie Battle, Chargers (15-39-1; 4-42-1)
I would say only if you own Ryan Mathews but there could be trouble brewing here.
Kendall Hunter, 49ers (8-56-1)
Proves he can run in Frank Gore’s absence. Doesn’t get enough touches in close games, IMO.
Wide Receivers
Jerome Simpson, Vikings (4-50)
First week back, caught half of Ponder’s passing yards.
Kendall Wright, Titans (4-46-1)
Could benefit from having a veteran QB at the helm for a few weeks.
Brian Hartline, Dolphins (12-253-1)
Target monster. Expect lots of catches. Should be owned in all leagues now.
Andre Roberts, Cardinals (6-118-2)
Still don’t buy the Cardinals, but someone will benefit from Larry Fitzgerald sucking all the coverage away.
Denarius Moore, Raiders (4-71)
Still waiting for the big breakout, but has put together a couple of nice weeks. All while staying healthy.
James Jones, Packers (5-56-2)
Greg Jennings will be in-and-out of the roster all year.
Leonard Hankerson, Redskins (7-57)
Catching lots of short passes from RG3. Good PPR fill-in.
Tight Ends
Fred Davis, Redskins (4-70)
Owners may have abandoned ship early in the year, but he’s starting to come on.
