Riding the Waivers for Week 6

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

We are now five weeks into the season. It is the perfect time to pull off that epic buy low/sell high trade that you’ve been having dreams about. You don’t dream about fantasy football? Of course you do. If you’re not much of a dreamer, or not much of a trader, here are some waiver wire additions that can help your squad in week 6 and beyond. As always, all players must be owned in less than 50% of Yahoo! Leagues.

Kevin Kolb – ARI vs. BUF (24% Owned)
The key here is the match-up. Buffalo has given up 643 passing yards in the last two games. On the season, the Bills Net Yards per Pass Attempt is 5th worst in the league. If you are looking for a fill-in for Drew Brees or Cam Newton, then plug in Kevin Kolb and you should get ~250 yards with a touchdown or two.

Brandon Gibson – STL @ MIA (12% Owned)
With Amendola injured, Brandon Gibson becomes the go-to receiver in St. Louis. Gibson is easily the 2nd most targeted receiver on the Rams, and also the only other receiver that has been targeted at least four times in every game this year.

Golden Tate – SEA vs. NE (8% Owned)
While Tate has become famous for his controversial “Golden Gate” catch against the Packers, he hasn’t caught a whole lot of passes this year. He is only averaging 39 yards per game receiving. On the other hand, his three touchdowns in four games are nice to see. New England secondary isn’t terrible but it can give up a lot of big plays. For that reason, I think Tate can catch at least one pass of 30+ and get in the end zone, as well.

Brandon Bolden – NE @ SEA (36% Owned)
This isn’t a great weekly matchup vs the daunting Seattle defense. However, Bolden has averaged 15 carries over the last two weeks. The Patriots backfield is always a crapshoot, but you got to like his usage numbers as of late. If you’re in a deep league or have a lot of players on Bye Weeks, there are definitely worse options.

LaRod Stephens-Howling – ARI vs. BUF (37% Owned)
If I had to pick up one running back in the mess that is known as the Arizona Backfield, I would go with Stephens-Howling. He has the most experience, and is a great receiver out of the backfield. I would only start Stephens-Howling if you’re desperate, but I would definitely stash him, just in case.

Anthony Fasano – MIA vs. STL (5% Owned)
When I look for sneaky Tight Ends, I look for players who are playing at home, and on teams that should win. Fasano fits both of these criteria. Fasano also converts on 67% of his targets this year. I would feel confident in starting him this week if I needed to fill-in for Jimmy Graham or Greg Olsen.

Miami Defense vs. St. Louis (12% Owned)
St. Louis was already one of the worst offenses in the league, and then Amendola went down. I can’t imagine a scenario where the Rams score more than 24 points this week. Miami should be a really solid Defensive streamer in Week 6.

==Last Week’s Recap==
Matt Hasselbeck – Last week I said, “We should see 200+ yards and a TD, at minimum.” Well, he gave us exactly the minimum. Such a Hasselbeck thing to do. Now owned in a whopping 7% of leagues instead of 6%.
Jeremy Kerley – As bad as the Jets QB’s are, somebody still has to catch passes. A touchdown would have been nice, but it’s hard to complain about 94 yards from a guy owned in 27% of leagues. He is now owned in 30% of leagues, look for that number to rise quite a bit.
Jerome Simpson – Hard to predict Simpson would get injured. Chalk this up as a dud. Still a lot of potential for The Juice, as long as he is healthy. Ownership dropped one percent to 25%.
Jacquizz Rodgers – I had a dream that Jacquizz dominated but instead he just ran for 4 yards and caught one pass for 8 yards. I still think owners will be paid off later in the year if they hold onto Rodgers. No ownership change.
Kendall Hunter – 11 rushes for 81 yards. Not too shabby for a player available in 81% of leagues. Well, now he’s only available in 78% of leagues. That number will surely drop as the season goes on.
Coby Fleener – A boring 41 yards receiving and no TD. Drop of one percent in ownership. I wouldn’t blame them, either.
St. Louis Defense – A huge win for those that streamed St. Louis Defense in last Thursdays match-up. Yahoo! ownership rose to 18% and now they have another decent match-up vs. Miami.
