True Leaf Brands strengthens board with former luxury retail executive Mike Mardy

True Leaf Brands Inc (CSE:MJ) (OTCMKTS:TRLFF) is boosting its board with a former luxury retailer executive to help in the cannabis company’s global expansion.

The Vernon, BC-based company welcomed Mike Mardy, who previously served as an executive at luggage and travel accessories retailer Tumi Holdings Inc and helped navigate the company’s merger with global brand Samsonite.

Mardy previously held executive roles at Keystone Foods LLC and Nabisco Inc and currently serves on the board of fashion brands Vince Holdings and Lulus.com.

Mardy’s appointment will help to guide the “pot for pets” company as it expands its operations worldwide.

“We are excited to welcome Mike to our Board of Directors at this important stage in True Leaf’s development,” said Darcy Bomford, CEO of True Leaf.

“We look forward to his contributions in guiding True Leaf as we continue to strengthen our global competitive position, including his M&A expertise as we evaluate potential joint ventures and complementary acquisition opportunities in the pet health space.”

In a statement, Mardy told investors he was “excited” to join the board of the cannabis company.

“I look forward to working with my fellow board members to help drive the company’s growth and position it for long-term success,” Mardy said.

The new appointment brings the total number of True Leaf’s board members to five.

Board member Kevin Bottomley has stepped down from his director role, the company revealed on Monday. Chairman Mike Harcourt thanked Bottomley for his contributions.
