Bangladesh: Incorporation of small-scale livestock to the roof-top can create the competitive advantage of sustainable food supply to improve food security in the Inner City

At the present moment, goat meat is costly and one may buy Tk. 900/ kg. Thus, goat farming on the roof top which has indeed little impact to pollute environment is highly profitable business.

Although COVID-19 pandemic has created many challenges nonetheless has created many opportunities. The society survived from the shock of deaths and thus, the time has come to recognize that revitalizing the inner city will require a radically different approach. While social programs will continue to play a pivotal role in meeting human needs and improving education and skills, a coherent economic strategy must be formulated. The question we should be asking is how inner-city-based businesses and employment opportunities from rooftop gardening to rooftop farming for inner city residents that can proliferate and grow. As a result, a sustainable economic base can be created in the inner city.

Finally, I live with my family, goats, chickens, ducks, pigeons and a cat. I strive to live a healthy, self-sufficient lifestyle and I love to share that passion with others! Anybody and everybody is welcome to my farm which may offer an window of opportunity to create employment and jobs for the young and elderly who want to expose them to the sun. Both national and international organizations may replicate this model and make rooftop gardening by incorporating livestock as a new enterprise for the city dwellers to improve food security in the inner cities.
