Online Gaming Company Steam To Release ‘I Am Jesus Christ’ Interactive Computer Game That Trivializes The Life Of The World’s Only Perfect Person

Jesus is getting the video game treatment. A new computer game called “I Am Jesus Christ,” will allow gamers to role-play as the Good Shepherd himself.

First of all, let me just say that from the video clips I have seen of this new game called “I Am Jesus Christ” from Steam, that it does not appear to me to be mocking Jesus or the Bible in any tangible way. At least not in the clips that I saw, but there could be more revealed later that might be an issue. That said, there is a very real risk associated with this game, and that is the trivialization of the Second Person of the Godhead, and the amazing miracles He performed during His earthly ministry. That to me is the real problem here.

“He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.” Isaiah 53:3-6 (KJV)

The video game creators at Steam invite you to “become Jesus Christ and get superpowers like He did”, and while that is not mockery, it is reducing Jesus to ‘superhero’ status like Iron Man and Wonder Woman. If you want to ‘become Jesus Christ’ you need to start by getting saved, and having His precious shed blood on the cross at Calvary applied to your sin debt before God. Jesus Christ is the most unique person ever to walk this Earth, and He is very God Himself. He is the Alpha, the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end. Jesus Christ is everything. He’s not a video game.

Bible-themed video game lets gamers play Jesus Christ

FROM THE NY POST: A trailer for the game shows Christ healing a blind man, making fish appear in a bucket, walking on water and ending a storm — all in the first-person. Corresponding quotes from the New Testament are shown between the video game’s biblical re-creations.

“I Am Jesus Christ” — which is listed as “coming soon” on the gaming platform Steam — doesn’t shy away from any portion of Christ’s life. It ends with a scene of Jesus on the cross, the in-game heart rate nearing empty, before cutting to what appears to be his resurrection and the game’s title card, where the “I” is Jesus’ floating body.

“Have you ever wondered to be like Him — one of the most privileged and powerful people in the world?” reads the game’s Steam blurb. “Become Jesus Christ, the famous man on Earth — in this highly realistic simulation game. Pray like Him for getting superpower, perform famous miracles like Him from Bible like casting demons, healing and feeding people, resurrection and more in ‘I am Jesus Christ.’ ”

The description continues, asking potential players, “Are you ready to fight with Satan in the desert, exorcising demons and curing sick people? Or calm the storm in the sea?”

A tweet of the game’s trailer by entertainment news site IGN has racked up nearly 70,000 reactions since being posted Saturday — and plenty of critique from gamers. READ MORE
