Decade Resources Mobilizes Drill at Bonaparte Copper-Gold Project
Source: Streetwise Reports 08/06/2026
Decade Resources Ltd. (DEC:TSX.V; DEXCF:OTCMKTS) mobilized a drill to its Bonaparte copper-gold property near after sampling found copper-gold-bearing hornfels near a chargeability anomaly.
The start of a new drilling program by Decade Resources Ltd. (DEC:TSX.V; DEXCF:OTCMKTS) has gathered the attention of copper-gold investors.
Key Takeaways
- Decade Resources mobilized a drill to its Bonaparte copper-gold property.
- A July sampling survey collected 750+ soil and 30 rock samples, finding copper (Cu)-gold (Au)-bearing hornfels ~275 m (meters) above a chargeability anomaly.
- Historic bulk samples returned strong grades, including 25.4 g/t Au in 1994 and 16.3 g/t Au in 2010 from the Crow Vein.
- Historic IP surveys point to a large buried porphyry system south of Discovery, expanding to ~3 km x 2 km at ~275 m depth.
- Phase 1 drilling covers 3,000 m across 5–6 holes (500 m+ each), starting with a test of the chargeability anomaly below Discovery.
- Bonaparte sits on a structural trend shared with producing Quesnellia-terrane mines, including a comparison to the Afton deposit.
Sampling Points to Buried Porphyry System
The morning of August 6, 2026, announced the mobilization of a drill to its Bonaparte copper-gold property north of Kamloops, B.C., within the Kamloops Mining Division. This property holds four mineral claims across 4,149.63 hectares.
According to the press release, the property has various target areas, including:
- Cu/Au/Mo (molybdenum) porphyry potential
- Bulk-tonnage RIRGS target with high-grade gold results in historic drilling, trenching, and underground exploration
- High-grade gold-copper low-sulphidation epithermal vein system
In 2013 to 2014, historic IP surveys, pre-existing geophysical, and geological data indicated the potential for a large porphyry system situated approximately 1 km south of the original Discovery zone, as well as a second and smaller zone that lies below the Discovery zone at depth. Indicated Resistive (IP) anomalies are considered high-priority drill targets, which may indicate the presence of silification, quartz veining, or potassic alteration. A 2013 British Columbia Geological Survey publication noted that the Bonaparte deposit may represent an upper level of a buried porphyry system.
In the release, Ed Kruchkowski, president of Decade Resources, said: “In late July, a contract sampling crew completed a soil sampling survey over the south part of the indicated IP anomaly, resulting in the collection of over 750 soil samples and 30 rock samples. The rocks were cut with a diamond saw to provide smooth surfaces for study. In examination of the rock samples, many were hornfels which is a fine-grained metamorphic rock without obvious foliation that forms by heat from a nearby magma. What was of great interest was the fine fracturing in this hornfels containing fine veinlets of chalcopyrite and pyrite. These rocks are interpreted as being over 275 m above the chargeability anomaly (source postulated to be altered and mineralized intrusive). The company feels that this is further evidence of all the positive indicators for a buried porphyry copper-gold system as indicated by geophysical data (chargeability high and resistivity high), geochemical data MMI (Mobile Metal Ions) copper-gold anomalies as well as soil anomalies and outcrop exposures with copper-gold values in the Discovery Area.”

Gold Holds Seven-Week High Above US$4,250 an Ounce
Junior miners and exploration companies hit the ground running this year after gold rallied at a high of US$5,500 per ounce in January. Many companies chose to begin exploration or production amid these highs. While prices have since fallen, and even dipped below US$4,000 in June, rates are still up 24% compared to July 2025, and Gold.org wrote that: “[T]he stage is set for a possible breakout. On the upside, clear catalysts — a worsening economy or renewed geopolitical shock, a shift towards lower interest-rate expectations, or a wave of dip buying — could reignite gold’s momentum and lift it back towards US$4,500/oz or above.”
On August 6, 2026, Trading Economics reported that “. . . gold prices were above US$4,250 per ounce on Thursday, holding this week’s rally at a seven-week high as lower energy prices reduced certainty that the Federal Reserve was due to raise rates this year. U.S. officials signaled they are chasing a ceasefire with Iran and an agreement to protect trade through the Persian Gulf, driving fuel prices to plunge since the start of August, and softening concerns that energy inflation would lift underlying consumer prices.” The article went on to say: “Treasury yields consequently eased, lifting bullion prices as markets faced lower opportunity costs to hold assets that bear no interest.”
Demand for copper is expected to rise due to continued use in electronics, especially with the widespread construction of new data centers and defense needs America is experiencing. A report from Businessworld claimed that “global copper demand is gradually shifting towards strategic and less price-sensitive sectors such as AI infrastructure, defense, power grids, and clean energy systems. By 2040, these categories are expected to account for nearly 45% of total copper demand, up from 32% in 2024.”
Copper has experienced some volatility this year. While a bull market for traders, physical products are trending toward a bear market due to potential tariffs. Last year, the looming potential of President Donald Trump’s tariffs surged copper prices in the U.S. as American investors stockpiled the metal.
This hype created an overstocking of copper, widening the gap between futures and physical worth. “Collectively, inventories at the world’s main exchanges have risen by more than 500,000 tons since the start of the year,” stated a March 6 article by Bloomberg News. The imagined certainty of inaccessible copper due to tariffs evaporated, however, when premiums for U.S. copper futures disappeared, and the tariffs did not materialize. Trump may choose to impose tariffs next year, but analysts and investors are skeptical since his administration chose to forego them in January 2026.
Despite the recent volatility of gold, the metals sector as a whole is only showing signs of improvement. On May 7, 2026, Brian Taylor of Recycling Today said that the World Bank Group has predicted that overall global metals prices will rise by 17% in 2026, which would mark the first overall market increase since 2022.
Analyst Sets CA$0.60 Long-Term Target on Decade Resources
1On April 24, 2026, technical analyst Stewart Thomson gave Decade a “Strong Speculative Buy” rating. Thomson’s short-term price target is CA$0.14, his medium-term target is CA$0.25, and his long-term target is CA$0.60.
Thomson wrote, “Trading volume has increased since the summer of 2025 . . . A pullback to the trendline has occurred, marking a potential entry point for speculators. Volume is more consistent than in the past, also a bullish sign.”
Phase 1 Drilling to Test Discovery Corridor
Decade plans to use a drill capable of drilling NQ-sized core to at least 500 m within the holes. The company’s priority is to test areas where independent evidence overlaps: MMI Cu/Au anomalies, soil Cu/Au geochemistry anomalies, chargeability, resistivity, and access.
The first hole is planned to test the chargeability anomaly below the Discovery area to determine whether the Discovery–Cooler Creek corridor represents a connected mineralized system rather than isolated surface anomalies. The second hole, approximately 500 m east, will test the MMI anomalies, as well as a resistivity high and chargeability-resistivity transition east of Discovery.
In total, 3,000 m is planned for the Phase 1 drilling of six holes. The location of holes 3 to 6 will be determined after the completion of Holes 1 and 2.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is a porphyry copper-gold deposit?
A: A porphyry deposit is a large, low-grade mineral system that can contain copper, gold, molybdenum, and other metals spread throughout a large rock body. Many of the world’s biggest copper mines are porphyry deposits because they can support long-life mining operations.
Q: What is a chargeability anomaly?
A: A chargeability anomaly is a geophysical feature detected during induced polarization (IP) surveys. It can indicate rocks containing sulphide minerals, which are often associated with copper, gold, and other metal deposits. Exploration companies use these anomalies to help identify drill targets.
Q: What is a chargeability anomaly?
A: A chargeability anomaly is an area identified during an induced polarization (IP) survey where rocks temporarily hold an electrical charge longer than the surrounding material. These anomalies can indicate the presence of sulphide minerals associated with copper, gold, silver, and other metals, making them important targets for exploration drilling.
Q: Why is copper demand expected to grow?
A: Copper demand is expected to increase because the metal is essential for electricity transmission, electric vehicles, renewable energy systems, data centers, and grid infrastructure. Many industry forecasts project rising long-term demand as countries invest in electrification, artificial intelligence infrastructure, and clean energy technologies.
Q: How do geologists identify drilling targets?
A: Geologists identify drilling targets by combining information from geological mapping, rock and soil sampling, geophysical surveys, geochemical data, and historical exploration. When multiple datasets point to the same area, companies may prioritize it for drilling to determine whether economically significant mineralization is present.
