Dragonfly
Can you tell I’m a bit tired? I mean, what sort of title is that? A concise one is what. Life is, as ever, hectic. I rather wish it wasn’t but I guess with a large family it will be ever thus…
Which is why I like blogging. It gives me a reason to reflect. To look back on my pictures, like the ones I’ve posted here. And I remember a lovely day, something wonderful and take a five-minute breather. Because without this blog, I probably wouldn’t look at these pictures for a while.
These were taken while we were up at the plot, having the best allotment visit ever. We chanced upon this dragonfly very sleepily clinging onto an old bean which had long ago given up the ghost. The dragonfly looked like it would soon too.
But we were very excited as we don’t normally see them and never up at the plot. And never close up. I was particularly excited as it meant I could take lots of pictures.
It left us with a dilemma though; we wanted to clear the plot (and realistically, this was my one chance). So we carefully moved the dragonfly, complete with bean tendril, out of the way. I’m not sure what became of it but I guess it died as that night was very stormy.
The five-year-old wanted to keep it as a pet. As much as I love dragoflies that was one step a bit too far for me. So we’ll have to make do with looking at these photos, which bring back lots of lovely memories (not really an alternative to a pet, I realise…).
