BBQ’s Have Become Another Disposable Throwaway Item

Stock market is doing really well… therefore it appears that more stuff becomes disposable. I have never seen so many BBQ’s just left on the beach. You might get 1 or 2 a month…. but 2 a day? Many are pretty trashed, but Sunday’s hot pick were 1 brand new BBQ and another almost brand new.

I Just Got To Eco Ya:

• The first recorded mention in 1697 and George Washington mentions attending a “barbicue” in Alexandria, VA in 1769. As the country expanded westwards along the Gulf of Mexico and north along the Mississippi River, barbecue went with it.
• 70% of U.S. adults own a grill or smoker, and in Canada, ownership is 80%.
• 35% of U.S. adults planned to purchase a new grill or smoker in 2017.
  
• 64% of people prefer a Gas Grill,  Charcoal (44%), Electric (9%).
• 56% of grills were purchased as replacements, 29% were first time purchases. (2016)
  
• 73% of consumers grill on July 4, 60% on Memorial Day, 58% on Labor Day, and 45% on Father’s Day. Spring holidays are also key grilling weekends for many consumers: Mother’s Day (34%) and Easter (19%). 
• 63% – Percentage of grillers who cook hamburgers most often
• 79.1 million – Americans who have grilled out in the past year, according to the U.S. Census.
• 766.1 million U.S. dollars in supermarkets in the United States in 2016.  (Source)

• BBQ’s can last from 2-30 depending on how well you take care of them.
• BBQ metals are recyclable, just take them apart and take to a scrap dealer.

These people apparently forgot or were too tired… drunk to put it back in the car. This really got me broasting

This sat by it’s lonely char-broiled self for a week before someone picked it up.

This sat for 3 days, before I picked it off the beach to make into a planter.

This tickled a few of my neighbors ribs when they saw this!

Big Trash Day… There were about 25 BBQ’s in the alley waiting for pickup.
